When I think of a dish that revives a lost appetite with spicy, slightly sweet savory flavor, braised kodari (semi-dried pollock) is the first thing that comes to mind. Properly seasoned, tender kodari flesh with steaming stone-pot rice is simply a top-tier meal that never gets old.

I recently heard that a great kodari spot had newly opened in Ruwon City, Incheon, so I quickly went along on opening day :)

It is a neat, welcoming restaurant with a well-presented meal, great flavor, and a convenient setting all in one, so I wanted to share my review right away.

## Is parking convenient, and is the restaurant clean?

When heading out for a meal by car, parking is always the biggest concern. Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch had such well-arranged parking that it truly deserves to be called a convenient Ruwon City restaurant. Even new drivers could park without difficulty and walk in comfortably, which made a wonderful first impression.

As you would expect from a newly opened restaurant, the pleasant, spotless interior caught my eye as soon as I entered. The dining room was spacious and airy, with generous space between tables, making it seem ideal for family gatherings, work dinners, or meals with friends. The staff’s bright, friendly greetings made the whole meal even more enjoyable.

Looking over the menu, I found not only individual dishes but also well-rounded set meals. We ordered the 2-person weekday dinner set (₩37,000).

The 2-person weekday dinner set is a neatly composed meal with stone-pot rice, braised kodari, and plentiful basic side dishes ♡ If you want a generous meal at a more reasonable price, the weekday menu is definitely the better choice haha.

Not long after ordering, a tableful of neat side dishes was set out. Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), seasoned vegetables, salad, gim (roasted seaweed), bean sprouts, and other sides that pair well with braised kodari were beautifully arranged, and each was cleanly seasoned without being too salty.

Another big plus was the self-service corner, where you can freely refill the neatly prepared side dishes.

## The pairing of seasoned braised kodari and stone-pot rice

At last, the braised kodari—the main dish—arrived. The large pieces of kodari piled onto the plate and glossy house-made sauce were enough to seriously awaken my appetite.

The house sauce was neither overly spicy nor sweet, but had a deep savory flavor that made it impossible to put my chopsticks down. The large, thick pieces of kodari were thoroughly infused with seasoning while staying tender and pleasantly chewy.

Wrapping a big piece of kodari in gim with crisp bean sprouts and a little Cheongyang chili pepper was truly superb.

The stone-pot rice served alongside it was also satisfying. As soon as I lifted the lid, its nutty aroma spread out, and the springy texture of the freshly cooked grains really stood out.

After transferring the rice into a bowl, I poured warm water into the pot to make nurungji (scorched-rice crust), then paired the spicy braised kodari with rice and emptied my bowl in no time. Oh, I’m hungry... haha.

Finishing the meal with the warm, nutty sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) and nurungji made for the perfect ending.

## How much is the lunch special?

I visited in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed the 2-person weekday dinner set, but the lunch special for daytime diners also caught my attention.

At the reasonable price of ₩13,000 for the lunch special, you can enjoy a hearty, fresh tableful of food. I think it will be hugely popular with nearby Ruwon City office workers and people meeting for lunch.

With a menu that delivers both great value and real satisfaction, it made me want to come back again at lunchtime soon.

## A Ruwon City restaurant suited to family gatherings and work dinners

Overall, it was a perfect meal with nothing lacking: a neat, clean restaurant, friendly service, and ample, convenient parking.
