Two of us ordered the small size hanwoo gopchang jeongol (Korean beef tripe hotpot), which came with acorn jelly soup, sundae and potato dumpling side dishes plus a separate pot of udon noodles, and the broth turned richer as the tripe released its juices. On the side there's self-serve fried rice and noodle add-ons to toss into the hotpot. Since it's near Gyeongnam University, I saw a wide range of ages, from students to local residents. Tripe, enoki mushrooms, vegetables, green onion, and glass noodles were all packed in generously. Once it was boiling hard, I took a spoonful of broth first — spicy but savory and deep in flavor!!!! Ah, as expected~~~~~👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 It's not just spicy broth — the savory richness from the tripe naturally seeps into it, so the broth had real depth. Good for drinks, but it also works perfectly as a dinner dish, kind of like gamjatang (pork bone soup). The glass noodles, soaked in that rich broth, were chewy and salty-savory, and eating them alongside the vegetables between bites of tripe made for great texture pairing. Best of all, the deeper we got into the meal, the richer the broth seemed to get haha! Yeongju's hanwoo gopchang jeongol is exactly what you'll crave more on cold days! Overall, this is a place where you can enjoy a generous serving of chewy hanwoo tripe in a spicy, rich broth, so it should really suit anyone who loves gopchang jeongol 😆 It's especially great in the evening for a warm hotpot over rice, or with a drink, so it also seems like a solid option if you're looking for a group dinner or gathering spot in Masan Daetgeori.
