I was looking for pizza near Konkuk University Station and ended up at Pizza E Michida Konkuk University Branch. The name itself is pretty bold, so I was curious what the place would be like — turns out it's a pub-style spot made for pizza and beer together.

Inside, Pizza E Michida Konkuk is decked out with brick, wood-toned furniture, and vintage lighting, giving it a strong casual-pub feel overall. One side has dark-colored walls with framed art, and rattan chairs are mixed in with wooden sofas, so each seating area has a slightly different mood.

It felt like a comfortable place to sit back with a pizza and a beer! I could see it working well for dinner with friends in Konkuk, or as a casual first stop for drinks.

## What we ordered: the ₩29,000 half-and-half Peach set

That day we ordered the half-and-half pizza set, picking two flavors — rucola garlic shrimp and Philly cheese barbecue steak. Apparently these two are basically the best-sellers, #1 and #2! Popular menu items really do earn it.

On top of that we ordered crispy boneless chicken and a craft pale ale. Instead of ordering pizza and chicken separately, having a set that combines both made choosing much easier for two people.

Here's the complimentary nachos, pickles, and sauce. Just dipping the nachos into the sauce alone was solid beer food haha. Personally, the red sauce was absolutely delicious!!

The pizza had way more toppings than I expected. Going half-and-half meant we could try two flavors in one go, which was great.

On the rucola garlic shrimp side, there was plenty of rucola (arugula) piled on, which lightened up the heaviness of the cheese and sauce a bit. The shrimp and garlic flavors came through together, making it relatively fresh and easy to eat, and the rucola's distinct aroma made it taste much more layered than a typical cheese pizza.

The other side, Philly cheese barbecue steak, was much richer and heavier, just as the name suggests. There was a noticeable amount of meat on top, along with the sweet-and-salty flavor typical of barbecue and the savoriness of the cheese. Mushrooms and corn were mixed in too, giving it a good chewy texture. I think meat lovers would prefer this side.

One side was relatively light with rucola and shrimp, the other rich with steak and cheese — the half-and-half combo worked really well. If we'd ordered a whole pie of just one flavor, we might've gotten a bit tired of it, but since the two sides had such different characters, it was great to alternate between them!!

The crispy boneless chicken that came with the set exceeded expectations too. True to its name, the outside was fried crisp, and it was cut into easy bite-sized pieces. It came with potato wedges as well, making it feel much more filling than just having pizza.

You dip the chicken in the separately provided sauce, and the crispy coating went really well with it. There were also pickles, sauce, and nachos as complimentary sides, good for cleansing the palate in between bites. Both pizza and chicken can easily get greasy, but eating pickles alongside made it easier than expected to keep going.

And what paired best with the food that day was definitely the craft pale ale. It went well with rich dishes like pizza and chicken, and especially matched flavors with a sweet-salty edge, like the barbecue steak pizza. If you're in Konkuk and want more than just pizza — a beer to go with it too — this combo is pretty satisfying.

## Is Pizza E Michida a good pizza-and-beer spot near Konkuk University Station?

Overall, Pizza E Michida Konkuk University Branch felt less like a place to grab a quick pizza and leave, and more like a spot to linger over pizza, chicken, and beer while chatting. The pub-like atmosphere suits dinner plans or friend gatherings well, and choosing the half-and-half pizza made it easy for people with different tastes to each get what they wanted.

The toppings were generously piled on too, so it looked quite hearty from the start, and I liked being able to taste two different styles in one pie, like the rucola garlic shrimp and Philly cheese barbecue steak. If you're looking for a pizza-and-beer combo in Konkuk, this place is worth a visit.

Next time I come back, even though this combo was good, I'd like to try a different half-and-half pairing for some new flavor combos. Especially on a nice-weather day, sitting at the outdoor tables near the entrance with a beer would make the atmosphere even better~!
