I went to check out the hot new Musinsa Mega Store in Seongsu, did some shopping and browsing, and got hungry, so I headed up to the food garden on the 4th floor.

As luck would have it, Dwaeji Gomtang House — a hearty gukbap (soup with rice) spot that's word-of-mouth famous in Seongsu — had a pop-up there, so I stopped in for dinner.

Near the entrance I noticed a sign for an event running from September 12 to 29, 2026: enter a discount code from the 1st-floor Pokémon Pocofia concept store into the kiosk and get 20% off.

Other shops like Fuglen and Pizza Slice apply, but unfortunately Dwaeji Gomtang House, running as a pop-up, wasn't eligible for the discount — worth keeping in mind.

## Can you bring a baby? Seating and high chairs at Dwaeji Gomtang House

It was really pleasant and, maybe because it was a weekday, the seats were nice and spacious, so I could eat comfortably and in a good mood.

## What is the difference between gomtang and gongtang?

Looking at the House Gongtang menu, I got curious: what's the difference between the gomtang everyone knows and this 'gongtang'? 🙄 Turns out gongtang is made from pork broth simmered clear and transparent under low heat and high pressure, giving it a cleaner taste than regular gomtang while still keeping a deep, mellow flavor.

We ordered one clear gomtang set (₩15,000) and one spicy gomtang set (₩16,000).

The clear gomtang had broth as clear and transparent as a well-steeped tea, topped with a generous heap of soft, wide-cut boiled pork slices.

Chopped spring onions and a pile of black tot (seaweed fusiform) garnish sat on top, making my mouth water just from the look of it.

The side dishes — crisp, cool kimchi, sweet-and-spicy dried radish namul, and salty saeujeot (fermented shrimp) for seasoning — came neatly arranged in tidy white bowls.

Stirring it gently with my spoon, I found warm rice already mixed into the broth, topped generously with thinly sliced tender meat and crunchy tot. The savoriness of the meat and the popping texture of the tot made for a really appealing, fresh combination.

### The baby finished a whole bowl of clear gomtang

Thanks to the clean broth, it was full of savory flavor without any greasiness, and the clear gomtang's mild, light broth made it a perfect Seongsu gukbap spot to eat with a child. My baby seemed to love it too — once I put rice and meat with the broth and a bit of saeujeot on the spoon, the bowl was cleaned right out.

On the other hand, the spicy gomtang was hotter and sharper than I expected, so it's a great pick for those who want a fiery broth to clear their head or for adult palates. The orange served for dessert at the end was the perfect finish.
