## In short

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a sirloin gyukatsu (Japanese breaded beef cutlet) restaurant two minutes on foot from Exit 10 of Seoul Station, on basement level 1 of the LG Seoul Station Building in Jung-gu, Seoul. After an appointment at Seoul Station CHA Hospital, the writer had a late lunch of the gyukatsu set for two, grilled each slice on a personal brazier and refilled the rice 2–3 times. The verdict: add the Isigny butter only after eating about half, so you taste both the plain gyukatsu and the buttery version.

Today I went to Seoul Station CHA Hospital and afterward looked for a good gyukatsu spot nearby — ended up at Ichigyu.

Let me introduce Ichigyu, a Seoul Station restaurant where you grill properly fried sirloin gyukatsu on a butter-topped brazier. A great date spot near Seoul Station for Japanese food and delicious sirloin gyukatsu — Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch.

## What Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is like after the lunch rush

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is on the basement level of the LG Seoul Station Building. It's a favorite among office workers, so even though I went a bit past lunch hour, there were still a lot of customers. The atmosphere is nice — clean with warm lighting, cozy — and there are plenty of two-seat tables, so it's also great for solo dining near Seoul Station!

## Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch menu: gyukatsu and steki

Ichigyu's main dish is gyukatsu made from sirloin. You can choose basic or double size, and add extra gyukatsu meat too!

Another menu item is steki — unfried sirloin that you grill yourself on the brazier to your preferred doneness.

The menu has changed a bit since my last visit — there's now a yakisoba napolitan dish! I love napolitan pasta, so a yakisoba-napolitan combo sounds amazing~ Next time, yakisoba napolitan it is!

Side dishes include a fried egg, and also karaage, fried shrimp, and mini curry, so you can enjoy your gyukatsu however you like.

## Gyukatsu set for two and how many rice refills

At Ichigyu, one brazier per person — for two people, that's two braziers. We ordered the gyukatsu set meal for two.

Rice refills are available at Ichigyu!

The gyukatsu is so good you end up eating a lot of rice — we're a couple who eats a lot, so we usually refill 2–3 times.

Fluffy, hot rice again today. Put gyukatsu on top of this rice and it's pure honey. There were a lot of customers, but the gyukatsu came out really fast.

The basic set includes miso soup with fried tofu, cabbage salad, sautéed cabbage, and sauces to pair with it — wasabi, the house special sauce, chili sauce, and salt.

## When should you add the Isigny butter to gyukatsu?

I was so hungry from a long wait at Seoul Station CHA Hospital that the gyukatsu was delicious the moment it arrived — but since we're educated people (?), we have to eat it properly for maximum deliciousness, so we put butter on the brazier and grill the surface a little more.

![Gyukatsu being grilled on the brazier](https://img.superchart.com/images/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter-17-d55w8-966.webp)

They give you one Isigny butter each — it's delicious grilled plain, but adding the butter makes it richer and more savory.

![Isigny butter served alongside the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter-19-1328i-966.webp)

Personally, I recommend eating about half of the gyukatsu without butter first, and only adding the butter and grilling once about half is left.

![Gyukatsu grilling on the brazier with butter added](https://img.superchart.com/images/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter-20-a24gc-966.webp)

It's delicious plain, and it's delicious with butter too, but once you add butter, the strong buttery aroma lingers and you can't really enjoy the plain gyukatsu flavor anymore, which can be a bit of a shame! The plain gyukatsu is already so good, so I'd recommend enjoying it that way first.

![A piece of gyukatsu dipped in sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter-21-1raml-966.webp)

## Salt, chili sauce and one more rice refill at Ichigyu

It's amazing dipped in just salt, and amazing dipped in the sweet chili sauce too. The gyukatsu was so good we refilled rice again today!

![A piece of gyukatsu placed on top of rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter/seoul-station-gyukatsu-rice-refill-butter-22-rb5w7-966.webp)

Made from sirloin, the meat is so tender and clean-tasting, and frying this delicious cut like a pork cutlet makes it a dish that simply cannot miss. For anyone looking for a good restaurant near Seoul Station, a gyukatsu spot in Seoul, or a place to eat after visiting Seoul Station CHA Hospital, I recommend Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch.
