## In short

Suraok Sundaeguk Juan Station Branch is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant on the first floor right in front of the north side of Juan Station in Michuhol, Incheon. A regular who eats sundaeguk once a week ordered the standard bowl for lunch, piled it with chives, and found the doenjang-based broth well seasoned enough that the pair nearly emptied it. The verdict: Suraok Sundaeguk is worth returning to for a generous bowl with no gamey smell.

Being on the first floor, it's easy to spot right away! Suraok Sundaeguk is a chain, but judging by the building's exterior, this Juan Station branch looked like it hadn't been open long. We used the public parking lot with marked spaces right in front of the restaurant (free on public holidays). It's right by Juan Station's north exit, so it's super close from the station — great for anyone walking or living in the neighborhood.

## Suraok Sundaeguk menu: regular, spicy and clear sundae soup

You order through a kiosk, and Suraok Sundaeguk's menu splits into regular sundaeguk, spicy (eolkeun) sundaeguk, and clear (malgeun) sundaeguk. The regular version comes with dadegi (chili paste seasoning) already mixed in.

There's also a spicy sundaeguk option — judging by the 🌶 mark, it must be pretty hot.

For those who don't like their sundaeguk with dadegi mixed in, there's also a clear-broth version.

Looking at the menu, what really caught my eye was a kids' lean meat sundaeguk for ₩6,000! Seems perfect for families with young children dining here.

There are hot pot (jeongol) options on the menu too.

These are drinking-snack items — good for anyone who wants to order sundae (blood sausage) separately as a side while eating. Skinless sundae is ₩8,000! And pyeonyuk (sliced boiled meat) is only ₩10,000.

## Side dishes and the 1,000 won takeout discount

When I ordered the regular sundaeguk, the owner set out the side dishes. The kkakdugi (radish kimchi) was quite ripe, almost sour like aged kimchi. And with chives on the table, it seems you're meant to add them into your sundaeguk.

If you need more, there's a self-serve side dish station too! For anyone picking up food to eat at home, coming in person for pickup gets you ₩1,000 off. ₩1,000 off every menu item — nice!

## What the regular sundae soup tastes like: doenjang-based broth and meat sundae

The regular sundaeguk at Suraok Sundaeguk Juan Station Branch comes loaded with a generous amount of lean meat, tripe, and sundae (blood sausage), and the broth had a doenjang-like feel with just the right seasoning. Ta-da! Our sundaeguk arrived.

Can you see what's inside? There's quite a lot packed in. The lean meat is in thick-ish pieces, with tripe and sundae mixed in too.

Add chives to your liking — (I piled mine in. Chives are great for you, they even help clean your blood).

The sundae in this soup turned out to be the meaty kind! I was glad it wasn't the cheap, low-quality sundae. There was so much in the bowl that I ate until I was completely full, and the broth was refreshing and delicious. The stock had that doenjang-like base with just the right seasoning — the friend I went with finished every last drop of broth! They said it had no funky smell either, haha, and that it was delicious. I ate mine down to nearly the bottom too.

As a sundaeguk lover who's been around to a lot of sundaeguk restaurants, I could eat here without any bad smell and really enjoy the meal. 200% coming back! If you're looking for a good place to eat near Juan Station, how about Suraok Sundaeguk Juan Station Branch?
