## In short

Underwater Play Bada Sea Walking is a sea-walking activity center inside Gimnyeong Port in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, where you wear a helmet and walk on the sea floor. A 7-year-old shorter than 120cm went in on the toddler ticket for a 1:1 dive with an instructor, touched and fed the fish, and received a "Sea Explorer" certificate afterwards. Even a shy child was held and looked after by the instructor the whole time, so Underwater Play felt genuinely reassuring for a parent.

For Eun-i's first trip to Jeju, I wanted to give her something special, so we visited Underwater Play Bada Sea Walking. She'd often talked about wanting to swim with fish, and she was so excited to hear she could get up close to them underwater this time.

As of September, booking through Naver gets you a ₩10,000 holiday discount coupon plus Naver's special pricing, so it's worth trying this budget-friendly, unusual Jeju experience — sea walking.

Underwater Play offers both indoor sea walking, which you can enjoy regardless of ocean conditions, and outdoor sea walking in the actual sea. The Tom N Toms building you'll pass on the way is where indoor sea walking happens; if you head to the address given at Naver booking, that's where you do the sea walking. Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early so things run smoothly.

### What age can children start? Toddler ticket rules

Underwater Play's Bada Sea Walking allows kids from age 3 through a toddler ticket where the instructor works 1:1 with the child. Kids 120cm or taller, or age 7 and up, use the standard ticket. Eun-i is 7 but under 120cm, so she used the toddler ticket.

This is where the experience actually takes place — an underwater space set up inside the harbor, run safely, which gave me as a watching parent a bit more peace of mind.

## Underwater Play programs, prices and the safety briefing

Underwater Play offers a range of unusual experience programs, including scuba diving and Sea Walker. The photo shows the listed regular price, but booking the standard Sea Walker ticket through Naver brings it down to around ₩40,000s.

Before the actual experience began, Eun-i and I scanned a QR code and watched a safety briefing video together. Since it was our first time sea walking, I was worried she might get flustered underwater, so I went over once more how to signal if something felt uncomfortable or strange, just to reassure her.

For reference, kids under age 7 or under 120cm use the toddler ticket, and even if a guardian goes in too, the instructor personally carries the child and guides them safely through the whole program.

If you get hungry before or after the experience, you can buy snacks, drinks, and even ice cream inside the office. Browsing the cute little Jeju souvenirs while waiting was fun too.

## What to bring, plus changing rooms and showers

You just need clothes and shoes that can get wet, plus a towel — Eun-i wore a rash guard and aqua shoes. If the water's warm, rash-guard-style wet clothing is fine, but on cold-water days I'd recommend renting a suit. You can change right next door at the Gimnyeong Fisheries Culture Complex, beside the Underwater Play office.

There are showers and restrooms, which made things convenient.

There were also plenty of lockers to store your belongings.

Inside there were also shower facilities to rinse off after the experience, which was very handy. It was windy and the water was fairly cold the day we visited, so Eun-i got chilly afterward — being able to shower in warm water was a relief.

After changing, we also looked over the info on fish we might meet while sea walking.

## A 7-year-old goes into the sea: how the dive actually went

Finally, the moment we'd been waiting for — going into the sea! The photographer went in first, then the instructor helped Eun-i descend safely. Since she was meeting the instructor for the first time right before going straight into the water, combined with her being a bit shy, she looked pretty tense at first, which made me nervous too. But looking at the photos later, I could see the instructor kept checking on her the whole time and made sure she never had to push past her limits — I realized I'd worried for nothing. :)

She wore a helmet made in-house by Underwater Play and finally went under. Guardians wait either inside or outside the office. Since the water was a bit cold, I had a towel ready, planning to take her straight to the shower afterward.

### Don't skip the fish feeding

Beyond just observing fish up close, getting to touch them and even feed them made this an even more memorable time for Eun-i, who loves fish.

After seeing the photos and video, I'd really recommend doing the fish feeding. I expected just a few small fish, but a huge school of big fish actually gathered right around Eun-i.

I also loved that the photographer captured so many different photos and videos of her. After finishing the experience, she was even given a "Sea Explorer" certificate — she'd been a little tense at first, but finishing the whole thing and getting an award made her so proud, saying she'd brag about it to her dad.

Jeju has all kinds of experiences, but this Underwater Play Bada Sea Walking stood out as a genuinely unusual Jeju activity you don't easily get to try otherwise. I especially recommend it because of the toddler ticket with 1:1 care, which makes it a great experience for young kids too.
