## In short

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch is a basement indoor camping venue in Mapo, Seoul, a short walk from Hongik University Station, laid out with artificial turf and tents. A table costs 40,000 won and includes free karaoke, retro arcade machines and board games, and TAGE lets guests bring in takeout or delivery food, so the writer grilled fresh pork belly at 13,500 won per serving. For a weather-proof workshop or company outing in Seoul, TAGE works well.

I'm a blogger who hunts down unusual spaces. A place that feels like camping even though it's indoors. A place where you can grill meat and hang out no matter what the weather's doing. I didn't think such a place existed, but turns out there really is one in Hongdae — 'TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch.' Let's get into this offbeat exploration!

## Where TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae is and when it opens

First, the basics. TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch is at basement level 1, 79 Wausan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 23:00.

No parking available. It's within walking distance of Hongik University Station, so public transit is your best bet.

## Heading down to the basement at TAGE

You go down to basement level 1 from the building entrance. The vibe already changes on the stairs. There's artificial turf laid down and strings of lightbulbs hanging overhead. Even the walk down feels like the entrance to a campground.

## Does it really feel like a basement? Inside the camping floor

Once you open the door and step in, it's much bigger than expected. The floor is entirely artificial turf, and lightbulbs droop from the ceiling. Fake trees and greenery fill the walls, so there's almost no sense that you're underground. The lighting is soft enough to really capture a night-camping mood.

## Tents at TAGE: an easy indoor date spot in Hongdae

There are tents scattered throughout the space. Inside, blankets and cushions are laid out so you can go in and rest. The tents are set up so anyone can use them.

A screen on the wall keeps playing a bonfire video on loop. It genuinely felt like staring at a campfire. With the lights dimmed like an outdoor pub, it's worth a look if you're scouting Hongdae date party rooms too. It worked well as an indoor date spot.

## Karaoke is free and always open

This is why it's not just a regular barbecue place. There's karaoke equipment set up in one corner. Speakers, a music player, even a mirror ball — and it's all free, no extra charge.

It's not closed off into private rooms — it's open like a karaoke bar. The vibe makes it easy to sing together without feeling self-conscious.

## Board games and retro arcade machines included

There's a decent amount of gaming going on too. Several retro arcade machines are lined up, and grabbing the joystick brings up old-school games exactly as you remember them. Board games fill up the shelves as well. A shared Nintendo console is also on hand, so you can play freely for your whole session.

After finishing the meat, I went looking for indoor things to do in Hongdae and ended up right here — having it all in one place was genuinely convenient. No need to agonize over what to do next.

## How are the four time slots divided?

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch operates on set time slots.

- Session 1: 11:00–14:00
- Session 2: 14:00–17:00
- Session 3: 17:00–19:00
- Session 4: 19:00–23:00

Each spot has entry times staggered by 30 minutes, apparently to avoid everyone showing up at once. On weekdays when seats are plentiful, a 3-hour session at your preferred time is also possible.

## Table fee and what you can bring in

Pricing is per table. It's ₩40,000 per table, with some seats getting a ₩10,000 discount.

Be sure to check the bring-in rules. Wine and spirits are allowed with a ₩15,000 corkage fee per table (4 people), no limit on quantity. However, soju, beer, and drinks sold at the venue can't be brought in. Coffee and water are fine to bring.

## Takeout and delivery food are both allowed

This is the biggest highlight. You can bring in takeout food or order delivery. If you bring your own food, you only get the seating.

If you bring your own meat, you'll need to rent a grill pan and buy butane gas. The burner itself is free. Ordering delivery comes with no extra charge. You do need to handle your own recycling and food waste, though. Terms like this aren't common in Hongdae.

## TAGE menu and prices

Of course, you can also just order right there. It's ordered via a tablet at the table.

- Fresh pork belly + kimchi, 1 serving: ₩13,500
- Fresh pork belly + kimchi + lettuce, 1 serving: ₩14,500
- Frozen pork belly, 2 servings, 300g: ₩19,000
- Octopus pork belly, 2 servings: ₩29,000

Given the table fee, the meat prices themselves are on the cheap side.

## How good was the fresh pork belly?

We ordered the fresh pork belly. It comes out on a wooden cutting board, and it's noticeably thick with clear marbling.

Honestly, since there's a table fee involved, I didn't expect much from the meat. But seeing it changed my mind. The color was vivid and it looked fresh, which got me excited even before grilling.

## Ssamjang and kimchi from the self-serve bar

Side items come from a self-serve bar. Ssamjang (seasoned soybean dipping sauce), onions, and kimchi are all set out there. Just take as much as you need.

You grill the meat yourself on the burner at the table. Grilling the kimchi alongside it soaked up the grease nicely. Because the meat was thick, cooking it just enough to sear the outside while keeping the inside moist worked really well.

## Why TAGE suits a workshop or company outing

After visiting, I felt it would suit group gatherings especially well. The hall is spacious and there are plenty of tables, so even a large group can gather in one spot. It's a fairly large-scale space even among indoor party rooms near Hongik University Station.

Best of all, there's no worrying about weather. No canceled outings or workshops because it started raining. Grilling meat, singing, and gaming all wrap up in one place. That's exactly why it's an appealing spot for company workshops, indoor outings, or group dinners. It's also plenty usable for birthday parties or family gatherings.

## The honest verdict on TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae

- Unusual space: an indoor camping ground set up in a basement, with tents and artificial turf giving it a real camping feel.
- Weather-proof group gatherings: a spacious hall plus karaoke and games make it well-suited for workshops and outings.
- Takeout and delivery allowed: you can bring or order food, and the in-house pork belly quality was also good.

If you're looking for something different in Hongdae, this is worth a visit at least once. It worked well both as an indoor date and as a group gathering spot. How about indoor camping in Hongdae this weekend?
