## In short

Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi is a jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried baby octopus) and naengmyeon restaurant in Munmak-eup, Wonju, Gangwon, close to the cable car station for the Sogeumsan Suspension Bridge. The writer ordered the jjusamsae set for two and added fried udon noodles and a flying fish roe rice ball, finding the shrimp plump and the baby octopus tender rather than chewy. With a parking lot right in front, Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi makes an easy stop before or after a trip to the Ganhyeon tourist area.

This is Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi, a jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried baby octopus) spot in Munmak, Wonju, that I stopped by before heading to the Sogeumsan Sky Bridge haha

## Where is Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi, and is there parking?

Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi is located at 2175 Yeowon-ro, Munmak-eup, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, and there's a parking lot right in front of the restaurant. It's open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and closed on September 24 and 25.

Since it's also close to the Sogeumsan Sky Bridge cable car station, I stopped here for a meal beforehand — this Munmak jjukkumi spot has its own parking space right out front, so parking was easy too.

### Inside Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi

The interior was spacious, and I liked that there was a decent amount of distance between tables. They were standard 4-person tables, but wide enough that two people could sit comfortably.

There's a self-serve bar set up, so you can help yourself to more side dishes if you run out.

## The menu: jjukkumi, naengmyeon and gukbap

Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi's jjukkumi menu has three options: jjussam with jjukkumi and pork belly, jjusae, and jjusamsae. Since this place is known for jjukkumi, I ordered the jjusamsae for two.

![Menu board of Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-04-2iu99-900.webp)

Beyond jjukkumi, they also have mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth), bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles), and mul-bibim naengmyeon.

There's codari naengmyeon made with dried pollack, and a kids' naengmyeon for children too.

You can add extra shrimp or extra pork belly. A flying fish roe rice ball can be ordered as a side too, and I'd recommend getting the udon noodles fried — they come out already stir-fried from the start haha. The flavor really soaks into the udon noodles.

![Menu board listing gukbap varieties](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-07-151dw-900.webp)

The gukbap (soup with rice) lineup was really varied too — pork gukbap, Hanwoo beef bone sundae gukbap, lean meat gukbap, intestine gukbap, assorted gukbap, spicy beef jangteo gukbap, spicy beef intestine soup, galbitang, and more.

I liked that there was also a range of stone-pot bulgogi, charcoal-grilled bulgogi, and boiled beef shank, so you could pick whatever you were in the mood for.

After ordering the jjusamsae, I read through the 'how to eat it deliciously' guide.

## Flying fish roe rice ball and the side dishes that come with it

I ordered the flying fish roe rice ball as a side, and the portion was really generous. But it was so good that I couldn't help ordering it lol. I meant to save it and eat it right before the jjusamsae arrived, but I ended up eating almost all of it while waiting lololol.

### What side dishes does Singi serve?

The basic side dishes were flying fish roe garlic mayonnaise, perilla leaves, bean sprouts, seaweed flakes, pickled radish, and mukbap (acorn jelly in cold broth).

Rice was included as standard too.

They were really generous with the flying fish roe, and the mayonnaise sauce had a slight garlic flavor that made it even tastier for me lol.

![Cool mukbap served as a basic side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-14-193ob-900.webp)

A cool, refreshing bowl of mukbap that pairs well with the piping hot jjusamsae lol.

## Jjusamsae for two plus fried udon noodles: how much food is it?

I got the jjusamsae for two and added a fried udon noodle topping, and the portion was really huge.

![Full pan of jjusamsae for two](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-15-dbusb-900.webp)

![Plump shrimp mixed into the jjusamsae](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-16-1cdk5-900.webp)

There were a lot of plump shrimp mixed in underneath, and no matter how much I ate, more kept turning up. They weren't just tiny shrimp — they used plump, sturdy shrimp, so the texture and flavor were both great.

![Udon noodles stir-fried together with the dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-17-lzafh-900.webp)

The udon noodles come already stir-fried together with everything, so all you have to do is eat, and the flavor really soaks in — it's genuinely delicious lol. Whenever I order dak-galbi, I always prefer adding udon noodles over regular ramyeon noodles, and it turns out udon noodles pair really well with jjukkumi too lol.

## How tender is the jjukkumi, and how spicy is the mild level?

![Close-up of the stir-fried jjukkumi](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-18-1t3m4-900.webp)

![Jjukkumi cut into bite-sized pieces](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-19-vlil1-900.webp)

![A piece of jjukkumi stir-fried in sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-20-kjs6o-900.webp)

I do like jjukkumi in general, but when the pieces are too big they can end up chewy or bland, so in a way it feels like a bit of a gamble each time. At this Munmak jjukkumi spot in Wonju, the octopus was cut into just the right size and was tender, so I kept wanting more — the kind of flavor that stays on your mind.

![Pork belly mixed into the jjusamsae](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-21-1kxza-900.webp)

![Jjusamsae seasoned at the mild spice level](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-22-9x9ga-900.webp)

There's pork belly mixed in too, so eating the pork belly gives you a bit of a jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) feel. You could also choose the spice level, and I went with mild — it wasn't spicy at all and was just right for me.

![Jjusamsae wrapped in a perilla leaf](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-23-ut8kr-900.webp)

![Jjukkumi dipped in garlic mayonnaise](https://img.superchart.com/images/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon/wonju-munmak-jjukkumi-jjusamsae-udon-24-17n60-900.webp)

It's delicious to put garlic mayonnaise and flying fish roe on a perilla leaf and eat it that way, but I also enjoyed dipping the jjukkumi itself in the garlic mayonnaise lol. The combination of jjukkumi, shrimp, and pork belly was great, and this Munmak jjukkumi spot in Wonju was even better for how generous the portions were on top of being tasty. If you're visiting the Sogeumsan Sky Bridge, the cable car, or the Ganhyeon tourist area, why not stop by here before or after?
