## In short

Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Aewol, Jeju, serving Jeju black pork, pork jowl, and kimchi stew. After exploring Aewol with the kids, we alternated thick-cut black pork and chewy pork jowl before finishing with a filling kimchi stew. A handy choice for a family meat meal on a Jeju trip.

One dish you almost have to eat at least once on a trip to Jeju is black pork. This time, while exploring the Aewol area with the kids, we visited Nopo Dwaeji Aewol for black pork. There are so many black pork restaurants in Jeju that choosing one can be tricky, but since we were visiting with the kids, we looked for somewhere with a variety of cuts as well as meal dishes we could order together.

We ordered black pork, pork jowl, and, of course, kimchi stew—something you just cannot leave out when eating meat! It was a great stop when we wanted to properly enjoy Jeju black pork, so let me introduce it.

## Having black pork near Gwakji Beach

A lot of people look for somewhere to eat near Gwakji Beach while traveling around Aewol. And if you have come all the way to Jeju, I think having black pork for at least one meal really makes the trip feel complete.

We stopped by while looking around Aewol with the kids, and it was nice that we could order pork jowl alongside the black pork and enjoy different cuts to suit our tastes. On a Jeju trip, meal times can often become awkward while you are hopping between attractions, but it was a decent place to visit when we craved meat during an Aewol itinerary.

If you are searching for black pork restaurants near Gwakji Beach and wondering where to go, I recommend Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, where you can try black pork along with a range of other meat dishes.

## How was the thick-cut Jeju black pork?

The first thing we ordered was, of course, black pork.

![Ordered Jeju black pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwakji-pork-belly-soup/gwakji-pork-belly-soup-06-fm39g-900.webp)

Jeju black pork is something I find myself thinking about every time I travel to Jeju. Once the thick cuts arrived, just looking at them felt satisfying—it really felt like we had come out for a proper meat meal!

Cooked until nicely browned, we could really enjoy the texture of the meat itself. Since we were there with the kids, we made sure to cook their portions a little more thoroughly, and they ate it well without any fuss. When traveling as a family, you end up thinking about what the adults want and what the kids will eat at the same time, but meat is easy for kids to share too, so it feels like a convenient choice for a family meal out.

For anyone looking for black pork in Aewol and somewhere to visit with children, this was a filling menu for a family meal.

## Adding pork jowl for different cuts

![Additional order of pork jowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwakji-pork-belly-soup/gwakji-pork-belly-soup-09-1r2dg-900.webp)

Black pork alone felt a little incomplete, so we also ordered pork jowl. Personally, when several people go to a meat restaurant, I prefer adding another cut like this rather than eating only one cut the whole time. Having black pork first and then pork jowl gave us a different texture and a whole different appeal. If you like pork jowl's signature chewy, savory flavor, I recommend ordering it too.

In particular, alternating between black pork and pork jowl meant we could keep eating without getting tired of it. We visited with the kids, so they ate the black pork while the adults added pork jowl too, and we were happy with the menu combination. If you want to enjoy several cuts when looking for a meat restaurant in Jeju rather than somewhere with black pork alone, ordering this way is a nice option.

## Finishing with a filling kimchi stew after the meat

After we had eaten a fair amount of meat, we naturally started craving something warm and brothy, so we ordered kimchi stew too. Meat followed by kimchi stew is a combination that is hard to get wrong, right?

Meat on its own can become a little rich, but having kimchi stew in between made our appetites come alive again. The warm broth and kimchi also went well as a way to finish the meal.

## An Aewol black pork meal with the kids

Since we visited with the kids this time, whether it would work for a family meal was important to us too. When you visit restaurants with children during a Jeju trip, you have to think about menu choices from the start, but black pork is something adults enjoy and it is easy to set aside well-cooked pieces for children, so it worked well as a family dining option. Our kids could eat the meat with us, so we did not have to worry about choosing a separate kids' menu.

The adults enjoyed a good mix of black pork and pork jowl, while the kids ate the well-cooked meat too, so the whole family was able to have a filling meal. Families traveling with children and looking for black pork in Aewol may find this useful.

## Black pork recommended for a Jeju travel meal
