## In short

Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is a black pork barbecue restaurant near Gwakji Beach in Aewol, Jeju. Visiting with a 13-month-old baby, the writer ordered 600g of black pork geungogi (thick-cut pork), Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew, mul naengmyeon (cold noodles), and seaweed rice, with staff grilling the meat from start to finish and a baby chair plus suction bowl already set up. With a large parking lot and generous table spacing, it was a comfortable family meal out with a baby.

You've got to eat black pork in Jeju! 🐷 We had a comfortable meal with our baby at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol. A Jeju trip really isn't complete without black pork haha. We happened to be touring the west side of Jeju that day, so I looked up a famous black pork spot in Aewol and ended up at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol.

To cut to the conclusion — the meat was delicious, but what really made it easy to eat with a baby was the staff grilling everything from start to finish, plus the baby chair and suction bowl, plus the huge parking lot. It was genuinely a great spot for a family meal out. Our 13-month-old ate the black pork so well I actually wondered if we should order another portion lol.

## 🏠 A clean, spacious Nopo Dwaeji Aewol

It's close to Gwakji Beach, so it's easy to fit into a meal course while touring west Jeju. The parking lot behind the building is especially large! Most Jeju trips involve a rental car, so a tight parking lot can be a real source of stress when heading to a good restaurant, but here we didn't have to worry about that at all. The building stands out along the main road too, so we found it easily even on our first visit.

The name makes it sound like it might be one of those old-school, gritty places lol, but nope, not at all! The exterior turned out to be really clean and modern. Whoa... 🫢 The inside was also well kept, with plenty of tables and an overall spacious layout, which made it great for dining as a family like us, and it looked like it would work well for a big Jeju family trip or gathering too.

## 👶 Recommended if you're looking for a Jeju black pork place with a baby!

*Baby dishware and straws available at the self-serve bar.*

One thing I liked most here was that not only was there a baby chair, but baby dishware was ready too. That part you see sometimes... but the baby bowl was a suction bowl 😳 I've seen plain plastic baby bowls at restaurants often, but this is the first time I've seen a place with a suction bowl prepared lol.

Our 13-month-old is at the stage where she can still grab a bowl and flip it over, ugh, so it really felt like they'd thought about even this small detail for families with young babies. So thoughtful haha. If you're looking for black pork in Aewol with a baby, this could be a pretty big plus.

## 🥩 Thick-cut black pork that melts in your mouth

![Plate of raw black pork geungogi, 600g](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-09-4txt7-900.webp)

What we ordered:

- 🥩 Black pork geungogi (thick-cut pork) 600g ₩72,000
- 🦀 Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew ₩9,000
- ❄️ Mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) ₩8,000
- 🍚 Seaweed rice ₩1,000

The black pork geungogi comes as a combination of pork neck and pork belly.

![Table set with side dishes and sauces](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-11-h0520-900.webp)
*An assortment of side dishes and sauces.*

![Pre-seared black pork on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-12-1tmz2-900.webp)

They say the carefully selected Jeju black pork is aged for over 168 hours, and sure enough, the thickness was obvious the moment it arrived. The thick cuts come out pre-seared, and after that, staff grill it right at the table.

Going to a barbecue place with a baby is usually chaos — juggling the baby and grilling the meat at the same time — but here, since staff grilled everything from start to finish, it was genuinely easy. My husband and I could both feed our baby and eat the meat together while it was still warm, which was so nice haha.

![Cross-section of the cut black pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-14-afea3-900.webp)

They cut it into easy-to-eat pieces, and just looking at the cross-section you could tell how juicy it was. Even though the cuts were thick, it wasn't tough at all — the more you chewed, the more savory it got. The pork belly in particular was so good! It had just the right mix of fatty parts and lean meat, so the juices really burst out when you bit into it 🤤

![Seaweed rice, dried laver, and black pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-17-1fpa0-900.webp)

### Seaweed rice and dried laver made feeding the baby easy

There were also lots of condiments to pair it with — breadcrumb salt, salted anchovy sauce, wasabi, ssamjang — which was nice haha. We tried cutting the well-cooked black pork into bite-sized pieces for our baby, and she ate it really well lol.

For rice, we ordered the savory, slightly salty seaweed rice for ₩1,000. Ordering it comes with dried laver too, which turned out to be great for feeding the baby. We'd wrap rice in the laver and hand it over, mixing in cut-up pieces of black pork now and then, and she sat quietly and ate for a good while haha. Such a good girl.

Baby chair + suction bowl + laver + staff grilling the meat... going to a barbecue place with a baby isn't easy, but that day we really got to eat comfortably.

![Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew with a whole crab inside](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-18-1rdmz-900.webp)

### A whole crab in the Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew

And the Jeju yellow crab doenjang stew comes with a whole crab in it 😳 — the crab was packed with meat, and the broth had that clean, deep seafood flavor. What I liked most was that the stew's seasoning wasn't too salty when I tried it. We let our baby taste a tiny bit of the broth too, and of course she loved it lol. It was such a thoughtful touch that they mentioned upfront they could leave out the cheongyang chili if we were eating the stew with our child.

![Mul naengmyeon eaten as the final course](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-19-a6d3o-900.webp)

We finished with a refreshing mul naengmyeon for ₩8,000. From the black pork to the doenjang stew to the naengmyeon, everything we ordered that day was satisfying overall.

## 🍽️ There's a lunch special too

![Sign for the lunch special set menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo/aewol-black-pork-baby-friendly-nopo-20-1twxj-900.webp)

If you want to enjoy black pork at a more reasonable price, there's a lunch special set menu too. The set for two comes with 400g of geungogi + stew + 2 bowls of rice! If you're planning to eat black pork for lunch around Aewol or Gwakji, this looks like a solid option. You could go all out with geungogi at dinner like we did, or fit the lunch special into your trip schedule instead!

## 💬 Wrap-up

### What was good

- ✅ Thick, juicy aged black pork
- ✅ Staff sear and grill it from start to finish, super convenient
