## In short

Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch is a black pork restaurant near Jungmun Tourist Complex in Seogwipo, Jeju. Visiting with family, the writer ordered heukogyeop (black pork belly) for 20,000 won, and the basic side dishes came with free shrimp, rolled egg, and steamed egg custard that the kids loved. With a large parking lot and the owner tending the grill, it made for an easy family trip stop.

Oreumak Garden, just 5 minutes from our stay in Jungmun on our Jeju trip! You absolutely have to eat black pork at least twice when you come to Jeju — it's clearly different from the pork you get on the mainland. Anyway, we heard it was a black pork place worth visiting so we went with the family. Our meat-loving son walked in with the happiest steps haha

The location is great since it's near Jungmun Tourist Complex, and there's a big parking lot so you don't need to worry about parking. The dog hanging around the parking lot was so cute haha — kind of looks like a Jindo but not quite, with that same cuteness. I should've taken a photo, ugh.

## Inside the restaurant and menu prices

The inside was spacious and clean. We'd made a reservation ahead of time, so I think that's why they had things ready in advance, which I appreciated. Oreumak Garden specializes in black pork so it only sells pork — the menu has dry-aged black pork (black bone ribeye, black pork neck, black pork jowl) at ₩67,000 for a whole and ₩57,000 for a half, and for regular cuts there's heukogyeop (black pork belly) at ₩20,000, white pork raw ribs at ₩22,000, seasoned ribs at ₩19,000, and frozen pork belly at ₩13,000. There are also desserts.

Oreumak Garden's aging chamber. Looks like they do both dry-aging and wet-aging. I wanted to try the dry-aged, but since our son loves pork belly, we ended up ordering the heukogyeop!

### Dry-aging vs. wet-aging

> What is dry-aging? A dry aging method that maintains consistent temperature, humidity, and airflow. / What is wet-aging? A wet aging method where raw meat is vacuum-sealed and aged at a fixed temperature (0–2°C).

## Basic side dishes and the steamed egg custard that came free

The basic side dishes they had prepared ahead of time

![Shrimp served per person](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-11-vkjpg-900.webp)

![Scallion salad side dish to eat with the meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-13-1lwcd-900.webp)

![A bowl of mel-juk with a mel-jeot-like flavor](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-14-1xsnp-900.webp)

Even though it's a black pork place, they give shrimp per person — so great. There was rolled egg among the sides and our younger one loved it!! The moment they saw it, they ate the whole thing themselves. There was also appetizing scallion salad and something like mel-juk (a small fish porridge)?? It was too loud to hear well, but they said you could mix it into rice or wrap it in lettuce — it had that mel-jeot (fermented anchovy sauce) plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) kind of feel. I love mel-jeot so I ate it up so happily... scooping it with a spoon haha.

![Steamed egg custard served for free](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-15-12lj4-900.webp)

And on top of that they even gave us steamed egg custard........ the service here is the best haha. The egg custard was delicious too, and our younger one finished it all!! All the basic sides were tasty and the service was great, so this seems like a good place to bring family on a Jeju trip.

## How was the heukogyeop?

![Plate of raw heukogyeop (black pork belly) ordered](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-16-1r9xv-900.webp)

![Heukogyeop served with mushrooms and onions](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-17-fajv9-900.webp)

Today's star, the heukogyeop !! You can really see the difference in the quality of the meat... totally fresh. They also gave us mushrooms and onions,,

![Heukogyeop and shrimp cooking on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-18-jacsm-900.webp)

The shrimp cooked up nicely, and we grilled the meat hard too haha. The owner came by from time to time to tend the fire, and was really kind. And the taste of the meat was excellent,, our son kept giving a thumbs up while eating haha.

Sizzling away, grilling it up deliciously haha. Ugh, writing this post is making me want to eat it again. Dipping it in the mel-juk,, this really is the black pork spot to know in Jungmun, Oreumak Garden!

![A thick piece of grilled heukogyeop](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-19-1mu7k-900.webp)

The meat was thick too, and even though I don't usually like the skin, it was chewy and really delicious. Since it's in Jungmun, it's a great location to stop by after sightseeing, and with the taste it has too, it seems to be famous as a local favorite among Seogwipo residents as well.

![Red Ribbon certification displayed at the counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family/jeju-jungmun-black-pork-ogyeop-family-20-femha-900.webp)

And on the way out I noticed a Red Ribbon mark at the counter. I'm not usually into chasing famous restaurants so I only really knew about the Michelin Guide, and only just now learned there's a Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon too. Seeing it's registered with the Red Ribbon, I guess this really is a proper standout restaurant! If you come to Jungmun on your Jeju trip, Oreumak Garden is a must-visit. It's great to bring family too, so be sure to try the black pork!
