## Octopus and chicken skewers in Jeonju Hanok Village

I went to Jeonju Hanok Village with my friends and looked around at this and that. As we walked, all kinds of street food kept catching my eye, haha. Among them, the octopus and chicken skewers looked especially delicious! I wanted something a little different from the usual snacks, and Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch (문꼬치문강정 전주한옥마을점) immediately stood out 😃 It looked perfect for a quick bite while searching for food in Jeonju Hanok Village, so my friends and I decided to go right away, haha.

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong is on the Hanok Village street, so it was easy to find. The sky was so blue and pretty on the day I visited, which made the atmosphere feel even nicer, haha. Its sign was easy to spot among the hanok-style buildings.

There were also simple tables and chairs beside the shop where we could sit and eat. Even though it is street food, we did not have to walk around holding it; it was nice to be able to sit down for a moment and eat comfortably 😃

Out front, there was also a standing sign showing the octopus skewers, mungangjeong (sweet-spicy fried octopus bites), and chicken skewers. The stretchy cheese alone looked so appetizing that it was hard to just walk past, haha. Coming across a sign like this while looking at food around Jeonju Hanok Village, I could not help but stop 😃

## How do you choose and order from the menu?

The menu had chicken skewers and mungangjeong as well as octopus skewers. The chicken skewers came in teriyaki, mala, and cheese varieties, and there were several flavors of octopus skewers to choose from too. With mungangjeong on the menu as well, it seemed good for a group to visit and share different kinds.

There were drinks that went well with the food too, including slushy beer and homemade sikhye (sweet rice drink), haha. Ordering was done at a kiosk, so it was easy to take our time looking over the menu.

With street food offering as many choices as Munkkocchi Mungangjeong, I think part of the fun is deciding what to get 😃

After ordering, we poured the slushies ourselves! Mango, green apple, and strawberry flavors were available, with cups set out beside them. Lids and straws were there too, so we could grab everything we needed right away, haha.

I had just one flavor, but other people were mixing a little of all three? If I had one again, I think I would mix the three too, haha. The cool slushy also went really well with salty street food like the skewers!

## Three skewers I was excited for, with flame-grilled aroma

We ordered the bonito flake octopus skewer, cheese octopus skewer, and cheese chicken skewer. While we waited, they grilled them right on the grill! They did not simply heat them up—they grilled them first and then finished them over an open flame, so I could tell they would have that proper smoky aroma, haha.

They did not hold back on the cheese for the cheese octopus and chicken skewers either 😃 There was plenty of sauce too, and a final sprinkle of parsley really made them look even better.

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong was one of the Jeonju Hanok Village food stops where it was fun to watch the food being made, haha.

Finally, all the skewers we ordered came out at once! Seeing the three together, the portions were better than I expected and they looked so appetizing, haha.

The cheese octopus skewer had nice, plump pieces of octopus with a satisfying chew. The cheese on top was rich and nutty, and with the sauce too, it was great for a full, bold flavor. There was barely any of the distinctive octopus smell, so it was easy to enjoy without hesitation 😃

The bonito flake octopus skewer had a savory sauce and lots of bonito flakes on top. The more I chewed, the more I could taste the springy texture and umami of the octopus, so I kept reaching for it, haha. If you love octopus and are looking for food in Jeonju Hanok Village, it seemed worth trying!

## How did I choose between mild and spicy?

The cheese chicken skewer was nice because the chicken was tender and plump. It had plenty of rich cheese too, so it felt more filling than expected, haha. For the chicken skewer, I thought the mild flavor suited it better. The clean flavor of the chicken still came through, and it went well with the cheese. Street food may be a quick bite, but a memorable flavor matters, and I liked that Munkkocchi Mungangjeong lets you choose according to your taste 😃

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong was a great light bite while I explored Jeonju Hanok Village with my friends, haha. I liked being able to choose both octopus and chicken skewers, and personally, I really liked the added smoky aroma from the open-flame grilling 😃 The generous cheese and sauce also made them look great, while the octopus was plump and had no unpleasant smell, making it easy to eat.
