## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant at the entrance to Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, on the first floor of a new building put up on the site of an old bathhouse. The jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) arrived with two large shrimp and a real smoky wok aroma, the black vinegar sweet and sour pork was dusted with coconut powder for an unusual finish, and the basic jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) had a sauce that ran a little thin. With everything from tables for two to group seating and parking right in front of the building, Bueokgan Chinese is an easy choice for a family meal.

I'd always wondered about Bueokgan ever since I saw it under construction on the site of an old bathhouse. I kept meaning to visit but never got around to it — until now!

The interior is really pretty and the space is spacious, great for gatherings, and the food was solid too. It's on Dalmaji-gil, but parking was easy so I could drive over without any worries. Here's my review of Bueokgan Chinese, a Chinese restaurant I loved in Haeundae.

## Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch: hours and where to park

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 16:30 and last order at 20:30. Parking is available on the building's 1st floor and along the street.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch sits right at the entrance leading up to Dalmaji-gil. Parking can be tough around Dalmaji-gil in general, but this building has parking on the 1st and 2nd floors plus street parking out front, so it was easy to park. And even without a car, the local buses run often, so it's easy to reach by bus from Jangsan Station or Haeundae. Being a building constructed just a few years ago, the exterior looks clean and sleek.

You can park right in front of the restaurant like this, so it's convenient to park and go straight in to eat.

A pretty red entrance.

## Is the hall good for family gatherings? Baby chairs and group reservations

Once you go inside, the hall is spacious, with seating from tables for two up to large group seating, which is probably why lots of families come here. Baby chairs are also on hand, so babies can tag along too. They also take separate group reservations, making it a great spot for gatherings.

## What's on the menu at Bueokgan Chinese

The menu isn't huge, but it's built around solid basics. Some Chinese restaurants have so many options it's hard to choose, but Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch keeps it to just the essentials, which is actually a plus when it comes to deciding what to order!

Here's what we ordered!

Basic plates with pickled radish and jjachae (Chinese-style pickled cabbage).

## Jjamppong with two large shrimp and a smoky wok aroma

The first thing to arrive at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch was the jjamppong. Just looking at the color of the broth felt like it could cure a hangover.

There were two plump, big shrimp in it, and the noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was well-seasoned and had a strong smoky wok flavor, really showing off what makes jjamppong good.

![Steaming hot jjamppong](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang-13-70zqx-900.webp)

Steam rising off the bowl. The jjamppong at this Haeundae favorite truly lived up to the hype.

## Black vinegar sweet and sour pork topped with coconut powder

This is the black vinegar sweet and sour pork! Unusually, it was topped with coconut powder, which gave it a bit of a different flavor. Since the sauce was made with black vinegar, it wasn't overly sweet and sour even in a small amount, and it paired well with the pork. The meat had no off smell and the batter was crispy.

Eating it with the shredded onion on top made the texture pop and the flavor even richer.

![Cross-section showing the crispy batter of the sweet and sour pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang-16-2t04s-900.webp)

The batter wasn't greasy and had a light, clean taste, so we happily finished it down to the last piece.

## Basic jjajangmyeon: plenty of meat, but a thin sauce

This is the basic jjajangmyeon! I thought about ordering ganjjajang, but I like the basic version, so I went with that.

![A bowl of Bueokgan Chinese basic jjajangmyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-jjamppong-jjajang-19-of438-900.webp)

There was a generous amount of meat, and the noodles were nice and springy. Only downside was that the sauce was a bit thin.

The pickled radish was nice and crunchy! Pickled radish really is jjajangmyeon's perfect sidekick, haha.

## An Italian restaurant and a café in the same Dalmaji-gil building

I stopped by Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, a Chinese restaurant favorite in Haeundae, when I was craving Chinese food. I hear they've recently opened branches in Marine City and Centum City too, so it seems to be a popular spot.

The Haeundae branch shares its building with an Italian restaurant and a café, so it seems like a good spot to grab coffee after your meal. I've now checked out the Chinese restaurant Bueokgan Chinese at this Haeundae food spot, so next time I'd like to try the Italian restaurant and the café too.
