## Hippy: a Jeonpo café in Busan with the mood to match

Hippy is a pie and pudding dessert café at 12 Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil, 1st floor, Busanjin-gu, on the Seomyeon–Jeonpo line. There are honestly tons of cafés around Seomyeon and Jeonpo, but ones that actually nail the vibe too are rarer than you'd think... a lot of them feel pretty similar, so honestly I tend to stick to Gwangalli.

But Hippy is a case where the Seomyeon–Jeonpo line actually gets the atmosphere right too, which is genuinely rare,,,, and places with great dessert on top of that are even rarer... anyway let's start with the pie visuals. It's genuinely so pretty I couldn't not take photos. The way it's plated already looks like a perfect shot, so photographing the pie is a must!!😆

## What does Hippy's jinjjabam chestnut pie taste like?

Wow, this is amazing!! That's Hippy's "jinjjabam" (real chestnut) pie, and the harmony between the chestnut cream and the pie crust was so good. Seriously, how is the chestnut that plump-looking??

The outside is crisp pie crust, and the inside is softly filled with chestnut cream, so the texture contrast was fun with every bite. The sweetness wasn't overdone either, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy, and that faint chestnut aroma kept lingering in my mouth, making me keep reaching for more haha. Eating it with the americano was great too — the coffee's bitterness perfectly balanced the pie's sweetness, and the combo just worked so well!!

## Pies and puddings in the display case, including fig pudding

Aside from the jinjjabam pie, all the other pies and puddings at Hippy just looked delicious from the get-go. The colors were pretty and each one felt made with care, so it seemed like you couldn't really go wrong with anything. Looking at the menu I kept thinking "that looks good too?" and almost had decision paralysis lol haha.

What especially caught my eye was the fig pudding! The color already had that autumn feel while also looking upscale, so I think I'll have to come back next time just for the fig pudding. I'm already imagining the taste in my head and planning my next visit haha. I don't think I've ever actually had a pudding like that?

Honestly, looking at the display case, all I could think was... I just want to try everything,,,,haha ;; I was curious about every kind of pie and craving every pudding — this café kept fueling my dessert greed. Since going solo means you can only eat one, I'm planning to come back with more people next time to share several. That's how curious I got about every single item on the menu.

## Hippy's americano, judged by a picky coffee drinker

And the coffee at Hippy was genuinely delicious too! I'm honestly kind of picky about coffee, so at most places I just drink it and leave without much thought... but here the coffee was seriously nutty and delicious!! From the very first sip I could feel that nutty aroma hit, with zero heaviness or blandness. You could just tell they're careful about the beans themselves.

It had that "okay, this passes" feeling coffee lovers often talk about lol. The acidity wasn't overdone and the nuttiness held the center of the balance, so even picky me was satisfied. Pairing it with dessert made it a perfect match. (For real.)

### Chestnut cream all the way through, not just on top

I really want to emphasize this — when you cut into Hippy's chestnut pie, it's not one of those pies with just a little cream lightly placed on top. It's packed with cream all the way to the core!! Cream kept coming out with every bite, so I could eat it feeling satisfied (?) right to the end. It felt like a completely different class from pies that just put cream on top to look pretty lol. You could really tell the care went all the way through, which made it even more satisfying.

## Hippy's annex, outdoor seats and interior atmosphere

Hippy's interior and overall vibe were so good! It's not just seating inside the main store — there's a separate annex, and outdoor seats too, perfect for enjoying on a nice-weather day. And the most important thing (bottled water provided)!! I think that's such a nice touch haha.

The restroom was super clean too, and there were cute little items placed around the store like a mini prop shop, so it was fun just browsing. Photo spots kept appearing everywhere so time flew by 📸

Decaf is available and there are plenty of non-coffee menu items, so it's easy to bring along friends who don't drink coffee. And here's a really important point,,, the coffee portion is generous!!! It's so sad when you get a tiny amount ㅜㅜ They poured a generous amount, so I was satisfied the whole time I was drinking it.

I think this is a café that works no matter who you go with!! Great for a date, great for chatting with friends, and just as good for spending quiet time alone. I'd definitely go back! (The owner is really kind too haha.)
