When eating with my parents, I tend to look for Korean food with rice and a variety of side dishes rather than anything too spicy or heavy. Jogane Sotbap is on Seongmu-gil in Beopsu-myeon, Haman-gun, Gyeongnam, and there's a wide open space in front of the building so parking and getting in was easy. The first thing that caught my eye when we arrived was the big Jogane Sotbap sign! The exterior was pretty clean-looking too, so it felt like a good spot to bring parents or kids along! Near the entrance there were large photos of the food, so you could get a preview of what was coming. Bean sprout salad, various namul (seasoned vegetable) side dishes, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and more — a nice variety of banchan that went well with rice haha Grilled fish and boiled pork came out too — the fish was grilled to a nice golden brown and looked really appetizing, and the boiled pork was great paired with kimchi haha Eating with my parents, dishes like these felt especially welcome~ Having something hearty like fish or boiled pork alongside rice and banchan made the meal feel so much more substantial haha There was even a jeon (Korean savory pancake) in the mix, so we got to try a little bit of everything! I think that's what's great about a Korean set meal like this — getting to taste a bit of many different dishes. With grilled fish, boiled pork, jeyuk-bokkeum, and all the side dishes, there was quite a variety of food for the three of us to share!! And then, the sotbap I was looking forward to most! Opening the lid, the freshly cooked warm rice paired with the side dishes really did feel different from just a regular bowl of rice haha After scooping out the rice, we poured water into the pot and made sungnyung (scorched rice tea) too. Overall, being able to eat so many side dishes plus grilled fish, boiled pork, jeyuk-bokkeum, soup, and warm sotbap together made for a really hearty meal👍🏻 Most of all, it was a comfortable Korean menu to enjoy with my parents, and I think it's a good spot to check out if you're looking for a place to eat with your parents in Haman, or want a hearty meal with lots of banchan and warm sotbap!!
