## In short

Ryusenso Beomeo Branch is a Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen restaurant in Beomeo-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu, a 3-minute walk from Suseong-gu Office Station. On a weekday day off, the writer and a neighbor shared one bowl of Ryusenso and one spicy Ryusenso Kara at 11,000 won each, plus tori karaage at 8,000 won served with a soy sauce and a nutty sauce. Ryusenso Beomeo Branch runs 11:30 to 21:00 with no break time, so a late lunch is easy, and choosing between the regular and spicy broths is half the fun.

A neighbor who lives near my office texted me saying she'd finally taken a day off and wanted to grab a nice lunch. It had been ages since we'd met up so leisurely on a weekday afternoon, so after some thought we headed to Ryusenso Beomeo Branch, a well-known spot near Suseong-gu Office. We had rich tonkotsu ramen, a spicy version, and crispy karaage, then finished off with coffee at a nearby café — a rare relaxed afternoon.

## Inside Ryusenso Beomeo Branch: table seats and dachi counter seats

Stepping inside Ryusenso Beomeo Branch, the deep blue walls paired with warm wood-tone furniture gave off a calm Japanese restaurant vibe. The tables aren't cramped and there's plenty of room for groups. There are also dachi (counter) seats facing the wall, so solo diners can eat comfortably without feeling out of place. Each seat has a tablet for browsing the menu and ordering yourself, which was convenient too.

### What we ordered at Ryusenso Beomeo Branch and what it cost

- Ryusenso ₩11,000
- Ryusenso Kara ₩11,000
- Tori Karaage ₩8,000

We ordered one each of the signature tonkotsu ramen, Ryusenso, and the spicier Ryusenso Kara. We also added the crispy Japanese-style fried chicken, tori karaage, on the side.

## How is the milky tonkotsu broth in the Ryusenso bowl?

Ryusenso is a Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen from Fukuoka, made by simmering pork bones for a long time. The pale, milky broth was topped generously with thick slices of chashu, a soft-boiled egg, wood ear mushrooms, and scallions.

![Tonkotsu ramen Ryusenso topped with chashu and a soft-boiled egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-weekday-lunch-ramen/ryusenso-beomeo-weekday-lunch-ramen-08-3m4f7-966.webp)

The broth leaned more toward rich and smooth than thin and light. There was plenty of savory pork bone flavor, but it didn't leave a heavy, greasy aftertaste, making it easier to eat than expected. The thin, slightly chewy noodles soaked up the broth nicely, which made for satisfying slurping.

## Ryusenso Kara, the spicy version of the tonkotsu ramen

Ryusenso Kara takes the soft, savory flavor of tonkotsu and adds a spicy kick. The orange-tinted broth was piled high with chashu, egg, and wood ear mushrooms — it looked appetizing even in photos.

The spiciness wasn't so intense that it masked the depth of the broth — it just gave the finish a nice sharp kick. If you love tonkotsu ramen but worry about it being too greasy, Ryusenso Kara might be just right for you.

The noodles were thin but had good chew, pairing well with the rich broth. Alternating bites between the regular and spicy versions made the differences between them stand out even more. If you're visiting with someone, I'd recommend ordering one of each and sharing.

## Tori karaage served with two dipping sauces

The tori karaage came with generous chunks of chicken, plenty for two people to share. The golden batter was crispy while the chicken inside stayed juicy and tender, making it a great side to go with the ramen.

It came with a soy sauce topped with scallions and a smooth, nutty sauce, so you could dip according to your taste. The soy sauce was great when you wanted something salty, and the nutty sauce worked well when you wanted something milder.

### Yellow pickled radish and pickled ginger on the side

There was pickled radish and pickled ginger on the table, so you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. Eating crunchy pickled radish or tangy pickled ginger between spoonfuls of the rich ramen broth cleared the palate nicely.

## Is Ryusenso Beomeo Branch a good spot for a late lunch near Suseong-gu Office?

Ryusenso Beomeo Branch runs without a break time, making it an easy Suseong-gu Office restaurant to visit even for a late lunch. Takeout, delivery, and Naver reservations are all available. If you're dining solo, I'd recommend the dachi seats; if there are two of you, try the two ramen varieties together with the karaage.

The restaurant was also running a receipt review event — write a review with photos, show it to the staff, and you get a free soda. Worth keeping in mind.

Having a good lunch and coffee with my neighbor, who'd finally taken a day off, was exactly the mood reset I needed, even in such a short time. Ryusenso Beomeo Branch has clear personalities for both its regular tonkotsu ramen and the spicy Kara version, making it a Suseong-gu Office restaurant that's fun to pick between. If you like rich broth and chewy noodles, or you're looking for a ramen place that's comfortable to visit alone, it's worth a stop.
