## In short

Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch is a shabu-shabu restaurant a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Samgakji Station in Yongsan, Seoul. The Prime Angus almokshim (chuck flap) lunch set costs 25,000 won and runs as a course with clear mushroom broth, vegetables, rice paper wraps, kalguksu noodles and egg porridge, finished with plum tea. ### How to walk to Shabu in Seoul from Samgakji Station

![Exterior entrance of Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-01-h0bn3-900.webp)

It's a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Samgakji Station! I could feel the upscale vibe even from outside~

## Is Shabu in Seoul a good spot for a lunch date?

![Interior seating at Shabu in Seoul divided by partitions](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-02-99wkd-900.webp)

Here's the interior. It has a warm overall atmosphere that fits well with shabu-shabu. There were high partitions between tables, so I didn't feel too self-conscious about neighboring seats. No matter how delicious the food is, it's hard to focus on conversation if it's too noisy around you!! On that front, Shabu in Seoul had a comfortable atmosphere for sitting down and eating slowly.

![Mouthwash provided in the restroom](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-03-1hp4b-900.webp)

There was even mouthwash in the restroom — little touches like that made me happy~

## Shabu in Seoul menu and the 25,000-won almokshim lunch set

![Pork and beef selection page of the menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-05-8fxz2-900.webp)

The menu! You could choose your meat based on preference between pork and beef. This visit, I ordered the Prime Angus almokshim lunch — 25,000 won (clear mushroom broth)!

## The table setting and three dipping sauces

![Table pre-set with spoons, chopsticks and dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-06-ht05y-900.webp)

The table came pre-set with spoons, chopsticks and dishes, which gave it an extra touch of class.

![Three sauces: chili, yuja soy, and sesame](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-07-wl1up-900.webp)

There were several kinds of sauces too! Chili sauce, yuja soy sauce, and sesame sauce.

![Shabu-shabu sauces in small dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-08-18j9x-900.webp)

You can pour them into small dishes and dip according to taste~

## Clear mushroom broth and the order to cook the almokshim beef

![Clear mushroom broth pot served first](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-09-132w7-900.webp)

First the broth arrives! Refills on the broth are free.

![Plate of vegetables and rice paper wraps for shabu-shabu](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-10-1iysy-900.webp)

Vegetables and rice paper wraps! The ingredients were incredibly fresh.

![Plate of Prime Angus almokshim beef](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-11-1upl3-900.webp)

And the almokshim!

![Two sheets of rice paper provided for wraps](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-12-fkw47-900.webp)

Two sheets of rice paper were provided per serving, which was nice to pair with the meal.

![Vegetables being boiled in the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-13-hdd4l-900.webp)

They boil the vegetables in the broth~~

The meat goes in with a splash too! It's sliced thin so about 15 seconds in the broth was enough to eat right away, which was great! The distinct clean flavor of almokshim was impressive, and it wasn't too fatty, so it didn't overpower the taste of the broth.

![Cooked almokshim dipped in sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-15-32qfy-900.webp)

Dipped in sauce!! Personally, the yuja soy sauce was my favorite~

![Rice paper wrap filled with meat and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-16-ckf75-900.webp)

I also tried the rice paper wrap — a little tricky to eat, but the broth had soaked into the wrap, making it even tastier.

## Kalguksu noodles, egg porridge and plum tea to finish

![Kalguksu noodles added to the shabu-shabu](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-17-1cok1-900.webp)

Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) is a must with shabu-shabu.

![Kalguksu noodles cooked in the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-18-zivm8-900.webp)

They boiled it for about 4 minutes! The broth soaked into the noodles so well, and it was so delicious!!

![Egg porridge simmered as the finale](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-19-18ift-1200.webp)

The finale: egg porridge!!

![Egg porridge topped with seaweed flakes](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-20-1qwbf-900.webp)

They added dried seaweed flakes too, giving it an explosion of savory flavor~~ Salty, nutty and warm, I kept going back for more!!

![Plum tea served for dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date/shabu-in-seoul-samgakji-lunch-date-21-1cezj-900.webp)

Plum tea was served for dessert, and its sweetness made it a great way to finish the meal.

I visited Shabu in Seoul Sinyongsan branch, and above all, I felt the calm atmosphere made it a great fit for a lunch date.

Located close to Samgakji Station, with warm, filling food and a clean space, it would be a great spot to set as a meeting place.

A heavy meat dish might feel like too much some days, but I think this is a solid choice when you want to eat a proper meal too!! Thanks for the meal again today.
