It's getting colder these days and colds and flu are going around... which also means my appetite disappears. So I was craving something spicy and bold — jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) was calling my name.

And when you think of a legit jjamppong spot, especially cockle jjamppong, there's really only one place — Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong. My cockle-jjamppong-loving self left the second kid with grandma and took our first with dad to go check out this jjamppong hotspot, haha.

## Parking and the dining room at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, Sinbang-dong

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch has a big above-ground and underground parking lot behind the building, so parking was easy. Just park, eat, and register your parking on the way out!

The interior is clearly kept very clean. Even on an early weekday evening, the seats were packed. It's clearly a popular cockle jjamppong spot.

Actually, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is already well known in Asan — that's where it built its fame — and now a branch has opened in Sinbang-dong, Cheonan too, and it's starting to get popular here as well. As an Asan resident myself, I already loved this cockle jjamppong spot and used to visit often! I personally want to come to the Sinbang-dong branch more, since it also looks so clean and hygienic.

## Which cockle jjamppong spice level should you order?

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch has a tablet at every table, so you can order comfortably without needing staff. The menu is also posted on the wall, easy to check.

We debated between jjamppong-bap (rice with soup) or plain jjamppong, and went with jjamppong! The cockle jjamppong comes in spice levels, from mild to very spicy — pick whatever suits you. My husband is more on the spice-wimp side, so he went with level 1, while I was craving spicy, so I ordered the level-2 cockle jjamppong. We also ordered kids' jjajang for our little one! And of course, we couldn't skip the sweet and sour pork, haha.

and the jjamppong, sweet and sour pork, and jjajang all arrived together. The kids' jjajang portion was bigger than expected, honestly surprised me.

## Sweet and sour pork: crisp coating, plenty of meat

The sweet and sour pork at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch has tender meat, generously packed inside. I was glad we ordered it as a side — fried perfectly crisp. My husband and Mireu (our little one) both dug into this one.

## How spicy is level-2 cockle jjamppong?

For me, craving something spicy, the level-2 cockle jjamppong was exactly what I needed to blow off steam. It was spicier than Shin Ramyun but milder than Buldak fire noodles, so it didn't go overboard — I liked that. The broth alone might be a bit spicy for some, but it hit that pleasantly spicy sweet spot for me. It's also loaded with cockles and other shellfish, so there's fun in picking through them as you eat.

## Kids' jjajang: what our toddler ate

The kids' jjajang is nicely sweet with a thick, rich sauce. The seasoning was at a level just right for kids, which I appreciated!

How did our Mireu do? Face-first into the bowl. No need to feel guilty about bringing a baby out for jjamppong — with kids' jjajang and sweet and sour pork on hand, you've got carbs, protein, and fat all covered, haha.

It's good even dunked in sauce, and the mildly sweet seasoning is great too. The kind of tasty where the bites just keep coming — miraculous.

## How many cockles, how the noodles taste, and adding rice at the end

The amount of cockles was more generous than I expected, honestly touching. I ordered rice to go with the jjamppong noodles, and even by the time I mixed the rice in, there were still cockles visible, haha. And most importantly, the jjamppong noodles were nice and chewy!

Chewy cockles, all pre-shelled so they're easy to eat, haha. Lots of assorted vegetables mixed in too, so there was fun in picking through those as well, haha.

My son, my husband, and I all cleaned our plates, haha. Such a satisfying jjamppong spot! Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is the kind of place I want to visit regularly to blow off steam. The restaurant itself is clean, and it has menus a baby can eat too, so it's a solid choice.
