The round pad can be used on uneven floors or wall surfaces where the mount does not suction well. Another great point is that it comes with a magnetic ring for people whose phones are not MagSafe-compatible. Attach the magnetic ring to a phone without MagSafe support and you can use it much like MagSafe. The dial rotates 180°.
