## In short

Kkodeul Daepae is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Wolpyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. I tried flower-cut sliced pork belly, frozen sliced pork belly, honeycomb pork skin, steamed egg, and the ₩3,000 self-service bar. Verdict: an easy, filling choice when you want to try several pork dishes together.

Thin-sliced pork belly cooks in no time, and it is so fun to grill a few different things together, isn't it?

This time, I ordered flower-cut sliced pork belly, frozen sliced pork belly, honeycomb pork skin, bomb steamed egg, and Pepsi Zero Sugar, then enjoyed a relaxed meal. There were lots of families dining here too, and the comfortable atmosphere made it an easy place to eat without any fuss.

## How do I get there and park?

There is no dedicated parking lot, but there are places to park in the nearby alleys, so it was not difficult. Reservations can be made through Naver Booking, so if you have a large party or want to secure a table in advance, making a reservation first could be a good idea. It is also a decent spot for groups. Around 32 people can dine together, and group seating is available for parties of up to 56, so it works for family gatherings or company dinners.

There is one more perk worth checking before you visit. If you subscribe to Naver notifications, you can get a coupon for bomb steamed egg. It is also just 200 m from Wolpyeong Station, so it is easy to reach. Kkodeul Daepae Daejeon Wolpyeong Branch (꼬들대패 대전월평점) is next to Seven Eleven.

## What should I order?

![Ordered flower-cut and frozen sliced pork belly](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-04-hogld-900.webp)

I started with the flower-cut sliced pork belly and frozen sliced pork belly. With thin-sliced pork belly, just watching the thin meat cook quickly on the grill gets your mouth watering.

I also ordered honeycomb pork skin.

Grilling the pork skin alongside the pork belly gave a different texture, so it was nice to have a little of it here and there.

I also ordered bomb steamed egg, which goes really well with thin-sliced pork belly. The fluffy, generously piled steamed egg was easy to scoop up between bites of meat, and it made a good addition to the meal. I chose Pepsi Zero Sugar for my fizzy drink.

## What meat do they use?

![Information on Korean pork thin-sliced pork belly](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-09-4e3rr-900.webp)

They say they use only 100% Korean pork for their thin-sliced cuts. If origin matters to you when eating thin-sliced pork belly, that is something to keep in mind. I grilled mushrooms and kimchi from the self-service bar too.

Because the meat is thinly sliced, it cooks quickly once it hits the grill, so I found it tastier to cook a little at a time rather than pile on too much at once. It was also fun to choose between crispier pieces and softer-cooked ones depending on my mood. They provide sauces, bean sprouts, and shredded scallions as side dishes.

## How does the self-service bar work?

![Self-service bar with vegetables and sauces](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-11-y9zod-900.webp)

The self-service bar was what I personally liked most. Vegetables, mushrooms, and various sauces were ready, so I could easily bring back whatever I wanted to eat with the meat. Above all, every item at the bar was covered with a lid, which made me feel that it was being kept hygienically.

And whenever food ran low, the staff refilled it right away. The self-service bar costs ₩3,000. It was a useful setup for anyone who wants plenty of vegetables or mushrooms alongside their meat.

## What should I know before ordering?

![Table-order screen guide](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-14-39zvk-900.webp)

Ordering by table-order screen was convenient. Kkodeul Daepae's signature menu is Kkodeul Daepae. It is useful to know the ordering rules before you arrive: the first order must be at least 500 g, while additional orders start at 200 g. If it is your first visit and you want to try several things, ordering basic meats such as flower-cut or frozen sliced pork belly first, then adding whatever you need afterward, seems like a good approach. Keep that in mind if you want to try a variety of meats.

## Is it good for a family meal?

![Comfortable restaurant dining area](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-15-16vem-900.webp)

When I visited, quite a few families were dining there. The overall atmosphere felt relaxed, so it looked good for visiting with friends or coming out for thin-sliced pork belly with family. Thin-sliced pork belly also cooks quickly, which is a real advantage when several people are sharing a meal and different dishes. Alternating between flower-cut and frozen sliced pork belly, then adding honeycomb pork skin and steamed egg, made for a pretty abundant spread.

## Would I come back for thin-sliced pork belly?

This time, I focused on flower-cut and frozen sliced pork belly, with honeycomb pork skin and bomb steamed egg on the side. From using 100% Korean pork for the thin-sliced meat to keeping the self-service bar tidy and refilling food as soon as it ran low, it was comfortable for a meal overall.

![Final dishes from the thin-sliced pork belly meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal/daejeon-wolpyeong-kkodeuldaepae-samgyeopsal-16-75aei-966.webp)

I especially liked being able to bring vegetables, mushrooms, and more from the self-service bar instead of eating only meat. If you like thin-sliced pork belly, I would recommend comparing the flower-cut and frozen versions. If one type of meat feels a little lacking, try adding honeycomb pork skin and bomb steamed egg too. This was the kind of generous thin-sliced pork belly meal that would come to mind when I want a filling meal.
