## In short

Ari Gyegok Isu Station Branch is a Korean-style bar near Isu Station in Dongjak, Seoul. I went with my dad for the ₩19,000 Mud Duck Jeonbyeong, Algoni Jjamppong Tang, and mango Kkakdugi Bingsu. Verdict: a fun pick for unusual bar food and late-night drinks.

## An Isu Station bar for late dinners and group gatherings

It is open Sun–Thu from 16:30 to 02:00 the next day, and Fri–Sat from 16:30 to 03:00 the next day. Last orders are at 01:00 Sun–Thu and 02:00 Fri–Sat. Since it stays open late, it looked like a solid choice when looking for a second-round spot or a late dinner around Isu!

Parking is not available. If you are coming by car, I recommend using a nearby paid or public parking lot!

Group visits, reservations, and Wi-Fi are available, and there are separate restrooms for men and women. Corkage is available for a fee; private rooms accommodate 2 to 20 people, while group seating accommodates 10 to 20. The space itself is fairly large, with separate private group seating, so it seems like a good option for anyone looking for a group bar around Isu too!

Write a Naver review and you can receive free scorched-rice noodles or udon noodles; there is also a review side-dish service coupon for visits before 5 p.m. If you visit early, definitely check the Naver coupons! There is also a sweet-potato yakgwa ice cream coupon with Naver reservations, so grab that if you are booking 🍠🍨 These little perks should please anyone looking for a good-value bar around Isu!

The exterior has a Korean feel to it too, right?

## A folding-screen menu and waterfall interior

But the real highlight is the interior. The moment I walked in, I thought, “This concept is no joke…?” Especially because the menu is not just a paper menu—it is a folding screen! From that point, the Korean atmosphere really came alive.

And there is even a waterfall inside… amazing, right?! Overall, it feels like traditional ambience mixed with a hip sensibility, so it looked good for an Isu date bar too. The place is spacious and has private areas, so it would be nice for two people or for a larger group! It has the comfortable feel of an Isu pocha (casual Korean drinking spot), but with much more distinctive decor.

## Ordering the Mud Duck Jeonbyeong set and Kkakdugi Bingsu

That day, instead of their signature chicken hot pot, we tried a newly released set menu!

✨Mud Duck Jeonbyeong Set✨ It lets you enjoy the famous Mud Duck Jeonbyeong and a hot pot together, but we switched the hot pot to Algoni Jjamppong Tang!

Ordering as a set gives you a discounted price, so I recommend it if you want to try several dishes at good value 👍 We also ordered 🍧Kkakdugi Bingsu for dessert!

### How do you eat Mud Duck Jeonbyeong?

> 🦆 Mud Duck Jeonbyeong

![Mud Duck Jeonbyeong with dumpling skins and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake-10-1hok8-900.webp)

Even the name is so unique, right—Mud Duck Jeonbyeong! It is a whole fried duck coated in a mustard sauce that resembles mud, served to wrap with crispy dumpling skins, crunchy lettuce, and assorted vegetables.

You cut up the duck yourself!

The presentation is no joke, right…? But what is even more surprising is the price. This is ₩19,000… what kind of value is that?! 😳

Rather than eating the duck alone, wrapping the vegetables and duck in the crispy dumpling skins made the textures much more varied and harmonious. The mustard sauce also cut through the richness, so I kept reaching for it! If you like unusual dishes, I totally recommend this as a real must-try menu around Isu!!

### Paired with Algoni Jjamppong Tang

> 🍲 Algoni Jjamppong Tang

![Algoni Jjamppong Tang served with udon noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake-11-17tic-900.webp)

What we ate with the Mud Duck Jeonbyeong was Algoni Jjamppong Tang, a spicy seafood noodle soup with fish roe and milt! It comes with udon noodles, and the staff kindly explained, “You can eat it once the roe and milt are cooked!” First of all, it is loaded with minari (water dropwort)…

![Algoni Jjamppong Tang loaded with minari](https://img.superchart.com/images/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake/isu-arigaegok-mud-duck-pancake-12-juu8c-900.webp)

The milt + minari combination was insane 🙊🙊

The broth was spicy, refreshing, and pleasantly punchy 🔥 Taking a bite of rich duck and then a spoonful of hot broth made my mouth feel completely refreshed, so the pairing of these two dishes was really good.

If you usually like spicy soup dishes with drinks, this is an absolute yes. Next time, I want to try other bar snacks too, like dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken), yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), and gamja-jeon (potato pancake)!!

### Kkakdugi Bingsu made with mango

> 🍧 Kkakdugi Bingsu

And the final dessert! Kkakdugi Bingsu. Just looking at it, it really looks like kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), right!! It is not kkakdugi. It is mango!! 🥭

The mango, cut into cute little cubes like kkakdugi, looked so adorable. Inside was banana-milk-flavored snowflake ice, which melted softly in the mouth and was sweet—the perfect finish after the spicy Algoni Jjamppong Tang! We cleared dessert nicely too 😋

## A Korean yet hip bar for food with drinks

After the Gangnam branch, I visited the Isu Station Branch of Ari Gyegok (아리계곡) too! From the Korean-style folding-screen menu to the indoor waterfall decor, it was fun to look around, and the food also had a distinctive lineup that was a little different from typical bar fare. The ₩19,000 Mud Duck Jeonbyeong especially stood out for its presentation, taste, and value, and it paired beautifully with the Algoni Jjamppong Tang 👍

If you are looking for dishes to enjoy with makgeolli (Korean rice wine) or a range of other drinks, add it to your list as a place for makgeolli and Korean traditional liquor around Isu too 🍶 It was an Isu bar where I could enjoy unusual food, hip Korean-style decor, and a variety of dishes all in one go 🌿✨
