## Where is Highline Seongsu Café? Just off Seongsu's main street

I'm always trying to figure out a good date course in Seongsu on weekends. Going to the same spots every time got a little boring, so this time I looked for somewhere just off the main street. That's how I found Highline Seongsu Café — I scrolled through reviews and both the space and the dessert photos looked so pretty that I had to check it out.

It's within walking distance of Seoul Forest Station, so it made an easy stroll on a nice day, and there was something fun about winding through Seongsu's alleyways to get there.

## Inside Highline Seongsu Café: exposed concrete and floor-to-ceiling windows

Highline Seongsu Café is a second-floor space with high ceilings and a full glass wall on one side. The first thing I noticed walking in was how much more spacious it felt than I expected. Visiting during the day, natural light poured straight in.

Gray concrete walls dotted with artificial flowers, stone accents, and dried pampas grass gave the place that worn, urban Seongsu feel naturally.

It felt part café, part flower shop, part small gallery, so I found myself slowly looking around near the entrance before even sitting down.

Sitting at a steel-framed table by the window, you can see Seongsu's old brick buildings right through the glass. The contrast was quietly appealing.

There's also a bar-style table zone lined with black benches, so a group could sit together without worrying about seats.

## Sweet corn French toast, freshly baked after a 10-minute wait

Once we sat down, we ordered Highline Seongsu's signature sweet corn French toast and the mugwort crumble latte.

It took about 10 minutes for the toast to come out after ordering. They seem to start baking only once the order comes in, so despite the short wait, we got it freshly made.

The first thing that struck me when it arrived was how it looked.

A scoop of ice cream, grilled corn, and rosemary were neatly arranged on top of the thick toast, so it was a dish you enjoyed with your eyes before even cutting into it. I finally understood why all the review photos looked so pretty once I saw it in person.

Cutting in with a fork, the outside was crisply toasted while the inside was soft and fluffy. The melting ice cream had soaked into the bread, so I felt the moistness right from the first bite.

The ice cream wasn't too cold either — just slightly melted — so the temperature contrast between the warm toast and cool ice cream mixing together was quite satisfying.

I usually like sweet food, and this had a crème brûlée-like part too, so the sweetness really came through. It was also filling enough as a dessert on its own.

## What is the two-tone mugwort crumble latte like?

The mugwort crumble latte we ordered alongside the toast stood out visually from the start. The top was pale pink and the bottom pale green, with a clear two-tone layer.

Mugwort powder and rosemary leaves on top gave off a fragrant smell before I even took a sip, and it was fun how the taste shifted slightly before and after mixing the layers with a straw.

Taking a sip, the mugwort flavor came through strongly, but leaned more toward a subtle, mellow taste than bitterness. There was sweetness too, which made it an easy pairing with the toast. Drinking it after the very sweet toast left my mouth feeling refreshed, so I was glad we ordered both together.
