## In short

Dwaeji Gomtang House is a pork-broth gukbap (rice-and-soup) special pop-up in Zone A of the Food Garden on the 4th floor of Musinsa Grand Store in Seongsu, Seoul. On a late evening, three diners ordered two clear gomtang sets at 15,000 won each, one spicy gomtang set at 16,000 won and minari tot king mandu (dumplings) at 9,000 won from the kiosk, then ate in the half-empty shared hall. After browsing the Musinsa store in Seongsu, it was suddenly dinner time. Rather than travel far, we decided to eat in the same building. It turned out that 'Dwaeji Gomtang House' had set up a special pop-up in the food garden on the 4th floor of Musinsa Grand Store. Here's my review of the gukbap (Korean soup with rice) I had there — a solid Seongsu restaurant find.

## What the Musinsa Food Garden looks like: wooden lattice ceiling and solid-wood tables

![Food garden entrance with glass doors and 'FOOD GARDEN MUSINSA' sign](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-02-1kpm7-900.webp)

The entrance to the 4th floor food garden where Dwaeji Gomtang House is set up has glass doors, and the 'FOOD GARDEN MUSINSA' sign stands out. Inside, green-toned tables and wooden chairs sit next to potted trees.

The ceiling has long wooden louvers running across it with rows of white pendant lights. By the window there's a long counter with round wooden stools, and further inside, wide wooden-top tables are spread out.

When we went in the late evening, there were quite a few empty seats. Since it's a shared space used by multiple restaurants, the atmosphere is pretty casual.

## How to order at Dwaeji Gomtang House and what the menu costs

![Order kiosk in front of the restaurant stall in the food garden](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-05-qv5x2-900.webp)

The food garden is a cashless space. You have to order and pay by card or mobile pay at the kiosk in front of each restaurant.

- Grab a seat first, then order
- Pay at the kiosk and enter the 3-digit buzzer number
- When the buzzer goes off, pick up your food at Zone A
- After eating, return your tray and dishes to the restaurant you ordered from
- No outside food allowed

Hau (夏雨) means 'summer rain.' Every dish here uses pork broth, made by simmering it low-temperature and high-pressure to come out clear. The origin labeling next to the kiosk shows the pork, rice, barley, chili powder, and seaweed are all domestic, which felt reassuring.

We ordered two clear gomtang sets, one spicy gomtang set, and one order of minari tot king mandu (dumplings).

## Clear gomtang set, 15,000 won: rice already in the broth, thin tender pork

![Clear gomtang set full spread](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-08-1dqgk-900.webp)

The clear gomtang set (₩15,000) arrived — one bowl of soup, four side dishes, and chili paste.

![Four side dishes: cubed radish kimchi, dried radish salad, salted shrimp, and orange](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-09-rcg7r-837.webp)

The side dishes were cubed radish kimchi, dried radish salad, salted shrimp, and a slice of orange.

The broth was clear, topped with several thin slices of pork. Chopped scallions, garnish, and a light dusting of pepper finished it off.

The rice comes already mixed into the soup, so there was no need to add rice separately — we skipped the extra bowl of rice (₩1,000).

![Clear gomtang meat with minced chili paste on the side](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-11-ydm2a-900.webp)

The meat was sliced very thin, so it was tender and easy to chew — nice with the broth. The minced chili paste served on the side could be added to the meat or stirred into the broth, to taste.

It's a mild, comfortable flavor without much of a kick. A pretty solid choice for a quick gukbap meal in the middle of shopping in Seongsu.

## Spicy gomtang set, 16,000 won, and minari tot king mandu

![Spicy gomtang set with red broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-13-1uicf-900.webp)

The red-broth spicy gomtang set (₩16,000) was way spicier than expected — really fiery.

![Close-up of the spicy gomtang broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-14-1jm1c-900.webp)

If you like a spicy broth, go for the spicy version.

![Three minari tot king mandu with chili dipping sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-15-5nt74-966.webp)

We also ordered the minari tot king mandu (dumplings) on the side (3pcs, ₩9,000). The dumplings were large — big enough for the three of us to split one each.

![A minari tot king mandu cut in half showing the filling](https://img.superchart.com/images/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau/seongsu-gukbap-late-dinner-kiosk-hau-16-1hq4v-900.webp)

The wrapper was thin enough that you could faintly see the filling through it. A red chili sauce comes on the side for dipping. Cut in half, the filling was minced meat mixed with green vegetables. It was just the right side dish to go with the gukbap.
