## In short

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is a bossam (boiled pork with wraps) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) Korean restaurant a 5-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 1, in the Hapjeong–Mangwon area of Mapo, Seoul. Dinner here was the medium bossam at 42,000 won with Namhae anchovy kalguksu, soju and beer, plus six side dishes: napa cabbage kimchi, kkakdugi radish kimchi, oyster jeotgal, soy-braised beef, stir-fried anchovies and stir-fried dried shrimp. Because the anchovy kalguksu drops to 5,000 won with a bossam order, Pyeongidambaek covers both the drinking food and the noodle finish at one table.

I visited Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch, a well-known Hapjeong-Mangwon spot. Pyeongidambaek is a chain known for great bossam (boiled pork wrap) and bone-broth kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), but this main branch was especially good. The bossam and kalguksu combo was great, and the banchan (side dishes) came out generously too — highly recommend it as a Mangwon-dong restaurant~

## Where is Pyeongidambaek, and what are its hours?

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is at 84 Yanghwa-ro 7-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 1. Hours are 11:00–22:00, with break time from 15:00–17:00, last order at 14:30 and 21:30, and no regular closed days.

The kalguksu sign was visible from far away so it was easy to find. Pyeongidambaek is famous for its kalguksu, and I'd been to another branch before — this time I came to try the bossam!

## Inside Pyeongidambaek: seating and solo dining

Inside, this Hapjeong-area restaurant was pretty spacious, with everything from 2-tops to 4-tops to group seating. We visited in the evening, and there were plenty of solo diners as well as family gatherings and larger groups.

## Pyeongidambaek menu and what we ordered

![Menu board and prices at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-06-18eqv-900.webp)

We ordered bossam (₩42,000), Namhae anchovy kalguksu (₩10,500), soju (₩5,000), and beer (₩5,000).

The menu at this Hapjeong restaurant ranged from regular kalguksu to bone-broth kalguksu to perilla oil kalguksu, plus bone-broth rice soup like galbitang. A larger noodle portion is just an extra ₩1,000. And since anchovy kalguksu is only ₩5,000 when you order bossam, we went with the bossam.

This Mangwon Station restaurant also runs a Naver receipt review event — participate and you get dumplings or a drink.

## The six side dishes served with bossam

The banchan at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch came out super generously! Fitting for a bossam restaurant, we got baechu kimchi (napa cabbage kimchi) and kkakdugi (radish kimchi), plus oyster jeotgal (salted oysters), braised soy beef, stir-fried anchovies, and stir-fried dried shrimp.

- Baechu kimchi (napa cabbage kimchi)
- Kkakdugi (radish kimchi)
- Eorigul jeotgal (salted baby oysters)
- Jangjorim (soy-braised beef)
- Myeolchi bokkeum (stir-fried anchovies)
- Geonsaeu bokkeum (stir-fried dried shrimp)

![Cold glasses of beer and soju](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-10-1pmhs-900.webp)

It was hot out so we ordered drinks first hahaha. Same Cass beer, but somehow it felt way fizzier and more refreshing.

![Roughly sliced, generously piled medium-size bossam](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-11-1j90d-900.webp)

## Medium bossam at 42,000 won: how was it with drinks?

Bossam. The bossam we ordered was piping hot, like it had just been boiled. The meat was thick, and the balance between lean and fat was great. It wasn't neatly arranged but roughly sliced and piled up generously, like raw fish sashimi, which made it look even more abundant and delicious.

![Cabbage leaves, garlic, salted shrimp, and radish salad served with the bossam](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-12-1pl0g-900.webp)

The bossam came with napa cabbage leaves for wrapping, garlic, chili peppers, saeujeot (salted shrimp), and moo saengchae (spicy radish salad). Refills on the cabbage leaves cost extra.

![Full bossam table setting with all the banchan](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-13-eisbl-900.webp)

Looking at it again, it's such a mouth-watering spread — even though it was the medium size, the portion was bigger than I expected and I got super full.

![A piece of bossam pork on a cabbage leaf wrap](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-14-qpo5a-900.webp)

First, a cabbage wrap — ta-da! The cabbage leaves were big and sweet enough to eat plain, but wrapping them around the meat filled my mouth in the best way.

![Thick-cut pork with napa cabbage kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-15-13wib-900.webp)

![A piece of bossam pork picked up with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-16-15p6h-900.webp)

![Close-up of bossam pork eaten with kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-17-8abts-900.webp)

The meat was well boiled with no funky smell, and it tasted great. The kimchi was so good I could've eaten it with just the kimchi alone. Perfect drinking snack!

![A bowl of Namhae anchovy kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-18-gf9ef-900.webp)

## Namhae anchovy kalguksu for 5,000 won with bossam

Namhae anchovy kalguksu. After eating a good amount of the bossam, we ordered anchovy kalguksu as a carb dessert! I'd actually wanted the bone-broth kalguksu since it looked delicious, but since anchovy kalguksu was only ₩5,000 with the bossam order, we went with that — and it was a great call.

![Anchovy kalguksu broth and noodles topped with fried tofu and seasoning sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon/pyeongi-dambaek-bossam-myeolchi-kalguksu-mangwon-19-17n15-900.webp)

The anchovy noodle soup had fried tofu and seasoning sauce in it, with a slight spicy kick that paired really well with the bossam. Plus, the noodles were proper kalguksu noodles, so the texture was great too. The broth kept going down easy — I kept drinking it even after finishing all the noodles hahaha.

If you're looking for a great bossam spot in Hapjeong, or a place where solo dining feels comfortable, I recommend Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch~
