I usually love Korean food, but there are days when I want something a little more special than the same familiar dishes. This time, I visited Lotus Leaf Rice and Noodles Damil Geomdan Branch, where I could try everything from lotus-leaf rice to tofu hot pot and LA galbi in one sitting. I expected a light Korean meal since it specializes in lotus-leaf rice, but the actual spread was wonderfully varied: royal pine-nut porridge, tofu steak, japchae, lotus-leaf tangsuyuk, hot pot, and galbi. Recommended if you are looking for a great Incheon date-course restaurant!!!

We ordered Special B for ₩43,000. Being able to sample many dishes in sequence made it feel less like an ordinary meal and more like enjoying a Korean course. It is especially worth noticing if you prefer neatly presented Korean food over strongly seasoned dishes, or are looking for a Geomdan family-dining spot to visit with your parents. A wholesome, delicious place where the neatness of it all was even better.

## Atmosphere and Parking at a Geomdan Lotus-Leaf Rice Restaurant

Lotus Leaf Rice and Noodles Damil Geomdan Branch is in Geomdan, Incheon, where you can enjoy lotus-leaf rice along with tofu dishes, noodles, and Korean food. If you are driving, you can use the building's underground parking garage, and the public parking lot behind the restaurant is also available. The restaurant supports the public-parking fee, so keep that in mind when you visit.

### A Comfortable, Neatly Presented Korean Restaurant Atmosphere

The restaurant is on the second floor. Once inside, the generous use of wood gave the whole space a warm, calm feel. The tables were fairly well spaced, and lotus-themed paintings and decor throughout suited the atmosphere of a lotus-leaf rice specialist. It was neither too casual nor overly formal, making it a comfortable place for a family meal.

The tables were spacious too, which made it easy to eat a Special menu with so many dishes arriving. When bringing parents out for a meal or choosing a place for a family gathering, I pay attention to the atmosphere as well as the food, and this was an easy, solid choice in that respect.

## What Comes in the Special B Course

Looking over the menu, I saw that they also sell lotus-leaf rice lunch boxes and gift sets. You can buy lotus-leaf rice on its own, and there are other choices including tofu steak and lotus-leaf tangsuyuk (Korean sweet-and-sour fried meat). We wanted to taste a little of everything, so we chose Special B for ₩43,000. Special B is broadly arranged as appetizers, main dishes, and dessert.

The appetizers include royal pine-nut porridge, young ginseng, Caesar salad, tofu steak, freshly made japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and lotus-leaf tangsuyuk. The mains follow with lotus-leaf rice, five Korean side dishes, Hoeryeong tofu hot pot, and grilled LA galbi. Fried items arrive at the end. If you prefer tasting a range of foods in small portions rather than focusing on one dish, this is a very satisfying lineup. My parents were pleased too ¡¡¡

### A Nutty Start with Royal Pine-Nut Porridge

The first dish was royal pine-nut porridge. It felt like a gentle way to settle the stomach before the proper meal began. There was a slight texture to the grains, yet it was overall smooth and nutty, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy. A salad came with it too, and beginning without a heavy dish made the course flow naturally. With a meal that keeps bringing new dishes, a very strongly flavored first dish can make what follows feel burdensome, so I liked this mild start.

### Young Ginseng and Tofu Steak

Young ginseng came after the pine-nut porridge. Whole small ginseng roots made an impression even visually. Their distinctive aroma and lightly bitter taste came through gently, and the sauce made them easier to eat than I expected. It was a dish that made the opening of the Korean course feel a little special.

Next came tofu steak. The outside of the tofu was seared golden, giving it a little springiness on the exterior while the inside stayed soft. With the soy sauce served alongside, the tofu's mild flavor gained a savory salty note. It was not a flashy dish, but the warm grilled tofu felt different from tofu eaten at home.

### Freshly Made Japchae Served Warm

The japchae arrived neatly arranged on a plate. Glass noodles were evenly mixed with vegetables including mushrooms, onions, carrots, and garlic chives, with a generous topping of sesame seeds. Japchae definitely loses something when cold, so I was happy it was served warm. It was neither overly sweet nor salty, making it easy to enjoy between the other dishes.

### Lotus-Leaf Tangsuyuk and Hot Pot That Worked Surprisingly Well

One particularly eye-catching item in Special B was the lotus-leaf tangsuyuk. Tangsuyuk at a lotus-leaf rice restaurant was unexpected, but once I tried it, it was a dish that changed the mood midway through the meal. The batter was crisp, and the sauce had the familiar sweet-and-tangy tangsuyuk style. Bell peppers, onions, and other vegetables added nice color too. After the mild tofu and japchae, the crunchy fried dish kept the course from becoming monotonous. I also thought children visiting with their families would especially enjoy it.

Hoeryeong tofu hot pot, one of the mains, is cooked right at the table. The large pot was generously filled with tofu, mushrooms, mung-bean sprouts, meat, shrimp, and vegetables. It already looked appetizing when it arrived, but once it began bubbling away, all the ingredients flavored the broth and made it much richer. Having a warm soup dish alongside made it nice to spoon up now and then while eating the lotus-leaf rice or galbi. It seemed like a dish I would crave even more when the weather turns a little cool.

### Grilled LA Galbi That Paired Beautifully with Lotus-Leaf Rice

After the succession of mild dishes came the grilled LA galbi. The glossy seasoning, sesame seeds, and scallions on top made me want rice just by looking at it. The slightly sweet, savory marinade had soaked into the meat well, and it was excellent with the lotus-leaf rice. Personally, it was one of the dishes in Special B that paired best with the mild lotus-leaf rice. With both hot pot and galbi included, the main dishes did not feel lacking at all. In particular, a salty-savory bite of LA galbi with lotus-leaf rice was a wonderful match.

Several Korean side dishes that go well with lotus-leaf rice also arrive together. They were familiar banchan (Korean side dishes), such as seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, and vegetable namul, and none were overly strongly seasoned. When there are many side dishes, there are sometimes a few I barely touch, but these all paired comfortably with the overall meal. Because the lotus-leaf rice itself is mild, it was fun to try it bit by bit with these sides.

## Finally, the Main Attraction: Lotus-Leaf Rice

The biggest reason I came here: lotus-leaf rice. It arrived neatly wrapped in a lotus leaf inside a bamboo steamer, and from the moment I lifted the lid, it had a completely different feel from an ordinary bowl of rice. Unfolding the leaf one layer at a time was quietly fun too. Inside were moist, chewy grains of rice topped with chestnuts, jujubes, ginkgo nuts, beans, pine nuts, and more. The rice was moist and pleasantly sticky, infused with the delicate scent unique to lotus leaf. Since I mostly eat plain white rice, eating lotus-leaf rice like this somehow makes me feel as if I am having a healthier meal. The gentle sweetness of chestnuts and jujubes, plus the nutty beans and pine nuts, kept even the rice alone from feeling plain.

### Crispy Fried Items Until the Very End

Fried items arrived at the end of the meal. Shrimp and sweet pumpkin were fried until crisp; even though I was already quite full after the lotus-leaf rice and hot pot, I still had room for the fritters. They had just come out of the fryer, warm and crunchy, which made them a lovely way to finish. From the opening porridge to the final fried items, the textures and flavors kept changing, so it was a long meal without ever feeling boring.

## A Geomdan Family Meal That Is Great with Parents

After trying Special B at Lotus Leaf Rice and Noodles Damil Geomdan Branch, which I visited while looking for an Incheon date course, what pleased me most was being able to taste so many kinds of Korean food in one place. It starts lightly with royal pine-nut porridge, then moves through tofu steak, japchae, and lotus-leaf tangsuyuk before finishing its mains with Hoeryeong tofu hot pot, LA galbi, and lotus-leaf rice, so the meal feels very abundant. There are many dishes, but they focus on mild flavors rather than intense ones, so it felt less heavy than expected. Above all, it is not a meal with lotus-leaf rice alone: the warm hot pot and galbi make it a great setup for dining out with family. Rather than a restaurant for a quick casual meal among young people, it suits a day when you want to eat with your parents, host older guests, or find a Geomdan family-dining venue.

A day of trying a variety of dishes in one place, from chewy lotus-leaf rice wrapped in lotus leaf to Hoeryeong tofu hot pot, LA galbi, and lotus-leaf tangsuyuk. If you want food that is a little more special than an ordinary Korean meal but still easy to enjoy, this was a good choice. Especially if you are looking for a Geomdan restaurant, a Geomdan Korean restaurant, or somewhere to take your parents, Lotus Leaf Rice and Noodles Damil Geomdan Branch is worth checking out.
