Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk is a Yongin, Cheoin-gu favorite that even people who dislike the distinctive smell of sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) can enjoy. It's one of the cleanest, most hygienic spots in the whole market alley. It's been on TV, and during peak meal times you'll need to wait for a table 💚

Thankfully there are more tables inside than it looks like from outside, so turnover is fast and the wait wasn't as long as I expected. You can customize your sundaeguk with whichever pork offal you like — personally, I prefer mine with nothing but sundae 😎

Once you walk into the sundae alley, there's a sign that really stands out — that's the place 👀 The sundae alley is great for browsing the market, eating a meal, and grabbing a hotteok (sweet pancake) for dessert! Inside, you order through a kiosk at your table, and there's a variety of condiments right there too.

There were also more people than I expected getting takeout while waiting — if you take the sundaeguk unprepared to cook at home, it's even cheaper, so it's great value. Same taste! I ordered a sundae-only bowl and my husband ordered one without head meat. Since orders come out quickly at Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, this Yongin, Cheoin-gu favorite also works well as a quick lunch spot for office workers 🩵

The basic side dishes are a richly seasoned geotjeori kimchi (fresh, unfermented kimchi), peppers and onion, and seokbakji (radish kimchi). The seasoning is generous, so the kimchi comes through with plenty of umami 😉 For condiments, there's chili paste, salted shrimp, and cheongyang chili peppers — once your sundaeguk arrives, just taste and season as you like.

## Sundae-only sundaeguk — how are the broth and sundae?

The sundaeguk is already fairly well seasoned as-is, so I just added a little salted shrimp for extra umami. Served piping hot, the soup came in a milky-white broth topped with sundae and chives. Besides glass noodles, the sundae is packed with various vegetables, so you get a nice crunch too. Since I ordered sundae-only, there was a generous amount of it — exactly my taste! 👏

After eating it clear for a while, I wanted some spice, so I added chili paste too. The base bone broth is already rich and deep enough to enjoy plain, but I tried it a few different ways ❤️ Since the amount of sundae is pretty generous, you fill up fast, so a full bowl of rice might be a bit much. The broth is so good I kept going back and forth between rice and kimchi, nomming away.
