The kids loved the soy sauce so much they mixed it straight into their rice. And the dish I really enjoyed here was the jeyuk bokkeum. The portion alone was generous — piled high on the plate — and the meat was properly seasoned, with a sauce that was genuinely delicious. Jeyuk bokkeum can get tiresome fast if the sauce is too strong or too sweet, but this place is a real jeyuk bokkeum specialist. We ended up finishing almost every bit of the sauce too, haha. And not a single piece of gristle — love that. Above all, the ssam vegetables were really good. It wasn't just a pile of lettuce — there were several kinds of leafy greens, and they were genuinely fresh. As someone who loves vegetables, this scored major extra points. Wrapping a fresh leaf around a generous heap of jeyuk was pure bliss. Wow, the broth at Neul Gogi Jip Icheon Main Branch was genuinely delicious. From the first spoonful, I could tell the broth was the real deal — deep and rich. Above all, the galbitang was packed with meat. My husband picked the rib meat off the bone for the kids and mixed it into their rice, and even my picky second child was shoveling spoonfuls in nonstop. There were big rib bones with plenty of meat on them, so picking the meat off was half the fun. It wasn't a galbitang that's all broth — you actually get to eat proper meat, which was satisfying. The kids ate so well that I was glad we came as a family. ## Is the cheese egg custard add-on worth it? Plus the doenjang stew Then the cheese egg custard we ordered separately. The look alone stole the show, haha — the egg custard puffed up over the top of the stone pot like a little explosion, with cheese piled on top. Scooped up with a spoon, it was fluffy and soft, with the cheese adding a nice savory note, and the kids loved it too. Taking a bite of egg custard between bites of a heavily seasoned dish like jeyuk bokkeum was the perfect pairing. It wasn't a case of "the crab is good, that's it" or "the jeyuk is good, that's it" — everything from the banchan to the ssam vegetables, jeyuk bokkeum, galbitang, egg custard, and nurungji was satisfying. Plenty of restaurants have one standout main dish, but it's rarer to find a place where the banchan, main dish, ssam vegetables, sides, and even the closing nurungji are all satisfying. So for me, this wasn't just an okay Icheon restaurant — it felt like a properly complete Korean meal, the kind I hadn't had in a while. I still think about the taste of that jeyuk bokkeum sauce wrapped in fresh vegetables, and the galbitang broth.
