## In short

Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch is a beef intestine restaurant near Magoknaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. I had two servings of so-gopchang with complimentary yukhoe and muksabal, then finished with cheesy egg fried rice. Verdict: a place I want to revisit whenever I crave gopchang.

One of my absolute favorite foods is so-gopchang (beef small intestine). Whenever I passed near Magoknaru Station, there was one gopchang place that always caught my eye: Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch (황곱 마곡나루점)!

![Hwang Gop restaurant near Magoknaru Station](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-02-1xxou-900.webp)

Especially when the weather is nice, they throw the doors wide open while serving, and every time I passed by it was packed and smelled soooo good, haha. So I kept thinking I had to try it someday—and I finally did this time. To give you the conclusion first, I think this is where I’ll come whenever I’m craving gopchang from now on!!!

## Hwang Gop near Magoknaru Station and Seoul Botanic Park

The address is Unit A-101, 1st Floor, 161-11 Magokjungang-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat near Magoknaru Station, it’s pretty easy to get to. There are lots of offices nearby, and by dinnertime I saw plenty of office workers coming in for company dinners. It struck me as a solid option for a Magoknaru group dinner, too.

Hours are 16:00–24:00, with last orders at 23:00. As you’d expect from a gopchang restaurant, it stays open from dinner until late, so it seems great for a post-work bottle of soju, too. You can park free for two hours in the building’s underground lot!

## An open-door space with an outdoor-stall feel

With its neat interior and wide-open doors, it felt airy and was a nice place to get that outdoor-stall kind of vibe.

I arrived a little early that day, so there weren’t many people at first. I thought I’d be able to eat leisurely, but after a while people started coming in one by one, and by around quitting time nearly every table was full. So the crowds I’d always seen passing by weren’t for nothing after all. On nice days, they open the doors all the way, giving it an outdoor-stall feel that looked perfect for enjoying gopchang with a little evening atmosphere.

## A table spread starting with yukhoe and muksabal

We ordered two servings of so-gopchang. But I was a little surprised by the complimentary spread here. They bring out yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) for free! Coming for gopchang and getting to have yukhoe like an appetizer too, haha.

![Complimentary yukhoe](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-13-11vbm-966.webp)

![Scallion kimchi and pickled wild garlic side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-15-3sac9-966.webp)

We started with the yukhoe and muksabal (acorn jelly in chilled broth), and the side dishes included daepa kimchi (scallion kimchi) and myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves). The scallion kimchi was especially tasty and went so well with the gopchang. We also put it on the grill alongside the gopchang, and that combination was pretty great too.

## Generously filled beef intestines, grilled crisp by the staff

![Partially grilled beef intestines, the main dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-16-1ytyy-966.webp)

Finally, the star of the meal, so-gopchang, arrived! It comes partially grilled, which was much easier than starting with completely raw intestines.

![Beef intestines grilling to a golden crisp](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-17-1ho2r-966.webp)

When I eat gopchang, I love the outside grilled deeply golden and crisp, and the staff grilled it exactly the way I like it. They cook the gopchang themselves, so I could just relax and eat without worrying about timing.

And the most important part: the gop, that rich filling! There was quite a lot inside. One bite and it was packed with gop, so the nutty, savory flavor really came through. If you love that distinctive rich flavor of beef intestines, I think it’ll be right up your alley. I already love so-gopchang so much that I went in with high expectations, and I still enjoyed it.

Gopchang is a rich, oily food, so it’s really delicious with myeongi namul or scallion kimchi. But this place also has muksabal, and having a spoonful of its broth with the gopchang totally refreshed my palate—it felt like I could eat gopchang forever, haha.

![Self-service bar for extra side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-18-1nj0h-966.webp)

There’s also a self-service bar, so you can comfortably help yourself to more side dishes!

## Finishing with egg fried rice and extra cheese

![Egg fried rice ordered after the gopchang](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-19-fgph1-966.webp)

![Egg fried rice with extra cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-20-1quto-966.webp)

You can’t just leave after finishing the gopchang, right? Fried rice is a must to finish! We ordered the egg fried rice and added cheese. This was seriously... I absolutely recommend adding the cheese!!!!! It was fried in all that delicious oil left from the gopchang, making it the perfect ending. So insanely good.

## Next time, I’m trying the aged-kimchi gopchang hot pot

![Gopchang hot pot menu at Hwang Gop](https://img.superchart.com/images/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice/magok-hwanggop-gopchang-cheese-fried-rice-21-1y7j5-900.webp)

Hwang Gop has gopchang jeongol (beef intestine hot pot) as well as grilled dishes. Their aged-kimchi gopchang jeongol seemed especially well known, but since we ate the so-gopchang this time, we couldn’t make it to the hot pot. Still, judging by how delicious the complimentary scallion kimchi was, I think the aged-kimchi gopchang hot pot would be really good too, so I’m planning to try it next time. This time I properly enjoyed Magoknaru gopchang; next time, I’m switching it up with gopchang hot pot 😊

Personally, the price didn’t feel too burdensome, the gopchang was delicious, and I was very satisfied. Above all, I loved that it was generously filled with gop and that the staff grilled it crisp themselves. Getting yukhoe as a complimentary dish was another quietly satisfying touch! If you’re looking for dinner near Magoknaru Station or a place for a post-work company dinner, I think it would be a good option. A beef intestine restaurant in Gangseo worth trying if you love gopchang like I do! I think I’ll be heading to Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch whenever I crave gopchang now. Next time, I need to come back for the aged-kimchi gopchang hot pot, haha.
