## In short

Kkoko Land is an outdoor bar in Hongdae, Seoul, in the festival street alley between Hongik University, Hapjeong and Sangsu stations. Chicken barbecue is the house specialty, but this visit called for something greasier, so the order was boneless fried chicken and Chili's cheese sticks with draft beer — the slushy draft beer and three side dishes were sold out that day. With a wide hall whose roof opens up and TVs all around, Kkoko Land works well for chicken and beer with a game on.

Back again without forgetting! The chicken princess makes her periodic comeback haha! My chicken cooldown was fully charged again! Once the weekend turned cool, greasy chicken and a cold draft started flickering in my mind. And right then I heard that a new outdoor chicken barbecue place had opened in Hongdae! I was also debating whether to go to that Oktoberfest Seoul thing happening in Mapo — Oktoberfesta Seoul? — but instead headed straight for Kkoko Land in Hongdae!

## Where is Kkoko Land? A lodge-style outdoor bar in the Hongdae festival street alley

Kkoko Land sits right between Hongik University, Hapjeong, and Sangsu stations, in the alley of Hongdae's festival street. Just one alley in from what I think was Sangsang Madang, and I found it right away! It felt so fresh and interesting that a mountain-lodge-style outdoor bar like this had popped up right in the middle of Hongdae!

From the entrance it really had that barbecue-lodge feel haha. It seems like a lot of concept-driven places like this have been opening lately, which makes visiting them extra fun!

## Kkoko Land's hall: a roof that opens and TVs for live sports

The hall at Kkoko Land was pretty large, and as the photo shows, the ceiling was wide open, so calling it an 'outdoor bar' felt like an understatement — it was practically fully outdoors. Even so, there were fans mounted up on the ceiling walls, so we could enjoy chicken and beer without getting hot at all! Another plus: there were lots of big monitors or TVs around the place, so it also seemed like a great spot to come watch sports.

We were told they'll actually be broadcasting the 2026 Asian Games live in September and October, so if your friends or group is planning to come watch soccer, Kkoko Land could be a great option! The place is spacious and TVs are set up all over, so it seemed like you could watch the game from pretty much any table.

## What comes free at Kkoko Land: welcome orange juice, chicken-leg crackers, individual trays

As soon as we sat down, Kkoko Land gave us a welcome drink (orange juice) haha. Getting a welcome drink like that at a chicken place made me feel oddly welcomed — really nice touch! As a basic side snack, true to the name Kkoko Land, they gave us chicken-leg-shaped crackers lol, so cute... And instead of a small side plate, we each got a wide tray-like plate along with our own individually set sauce, so everyone could eat comfortably. These kinds of thoughtful details are exactly the kind of thing that make me want to come back haha.

### The slushy draft beer was sold out

With the mindset that chicken absolutely requires draft beer, we ordered draft as soon as we sat down! I actually wanted to order the slushy draft beer, but there were so many people that day it seemed to be sold out, aww. Next time I definitely want to try it! With the weather being neither too hot nor too cold, sipping a cold draft was pure bliss.

## Ordering boneless fried chicken at a chicken barbecue bar

Since Kkoko Land's specialty is actually chicken barbecue, I debated getting the boneless barbecue, but that day I was craving something greasy, so we ordered boneless fried chicken instead haha. It came with a generous portion of boneless chicken, cabbage salad, and cucumber and radish pickles, and the combination was so good. The batter wasn't overly thick either, and from the first bite you could tell it was fried in fresh oil! It was exactly the greasy, crispy chicken I was craving that day, and it totally hit the spot haha. Even though it's a chicken barbecue place, I'd still recommend trying the fried chicken at Kkoko Land! If we'd come as a bigger group, I think we would have ordered one whole barbecue chicken and one whole fried chicken.

## How were the Chili's cheese sticks?

And the chili's cheese sticks we ordered as a side!! Served with chipotle sauce, and even my boyfriend fell for them after one bite! It was my first time trying chili's cheese sticks, and the cheese was savory and salty without being too much, and it stretched so incredibly well haha. Honestly, almost all three of the sides I wanted to order at Kkoko Land were sold out, which was so disappointing, but the cheese sticks were more delicious than expected, so that calmed my heart down haha.

### Restrooms at Kkoko Land: separate for men and women

Lastly, the neatly interior-designed, gender-separate restrooms inside the venue were the finishing touch! Honestly, in Hongdae, even places with in-store restrooms are often not that clean or are unisex, but Kkoko Land went the extra mile to make even the restrooms nice and convenient for customers, which made me like the place even more!
