I feel like I'm slowly getting back into my daily routine these days — coffee with the neighborhood friends, housework, taking the kid to school. ☔️ Today it was drizzling out, so of course I had to go get budae-jjigae (army stew).

## Arriving at Cheongwon Restaurant right at the 11am opening on a rainy day: 4 parking spots

Cheongwon Restaurant: Cooking Budae-jjigae, Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch opens at 11am, and there are 4 parking spots in front. The sky today looked like it was about to pour any minute, and after having coffee I suddenly got hungry, so since it's near my place I went. Turns out it's near a hospital I go to often. Even though it was an 11am opening and I went in the morning, there were already quite a few people. All 4 spots in front were full so I parked somewhere else.

My sister, who came with me, had been craving budae-jjigae for days. So today it was decided — stew it is. The inside of the restaurant was so clean it made me even more excited for the food.

The two of us ordered two servings of the Cheongwon budae-jjigae. Ramyeon noodles are included, and if that's not enough you can grab more from the self-serve bar.

## Cheongwon budae-jjigae vs Songtan budae-jjigae: what's the difference?

Cheongwon Sikdang's Cheongwon budae-jjigae has a spicy, punchy style with sliced cheongyang chili mixed in. If you prefer a milder base flavor, I'd recommend the Songtan budae-jjigae instead. Among the basic side dishes, everything except the fish cake gets unlimited refills. We were already full, so we just grabbed one ramyeon noodle serving to add in.

Loaded generously with ham and sausage — such great value for a budae-jjigae! The broth got richer the longer it simmered, and thanks to the special stock, it had real depth of flavor.

## Free egg roll for guests who arrive before 11:30am

Cheongwon Sikdang gives out a free egg roll for lunch visitors (limited to guests arriving before 11:30am). The egg roll was delicious too, so make sure you catch it. It came out warm right away, and we enjoyed it a lot.

## Unlimited ramyeon noodles and banchan refills

At Cheongwon Sikdang's Dujeong main branch, both ramyeon and rice are unlimited refills. You really have to add ramyeon noodles to your budae-jjigae for it to taste right. Personally I like the ramyeon noodles even more than the rice. With rice refills too, this is my pick for a Dujeong-dong lunch spot. There's a reason this place is packed even in the morning~

The inside of the restaurant was neat and tidy. There's a restroom inside too, and it was clean. With the humid, muggy weather lately, the owner had the AC blasting, so even eating something hot, we stayed cool.

Wait until the staff comes to stir the pot before you open the lid. They come over, stir it themselves, and tell you exactly when it's ready to eat. The staff were kind too^^

## Broth refilled from a kettle, meat is 1++ Korean beef mince

As you simmer the budae-jjigae at Cheongwon Sikdang, if the broth runs low, they refill it — and they give you a whole kettle at a time. The meat is Korean beef mince, which explains why the meat topping felt so generous. I'm planning to come back with my husband and kids — it's a flavor the kids will love too^^ Next time, I'll pick the Songtan budae-jjigae.

A YouTuber's visit proof and signature on the wall — confirmed as a Dujeong-dong budae-jjigae favorite👍 I loved how much filling there was too. Usually when I eat budae-jjigae the ingredients feel skimpy and the ham is just so-so, but here you can really eat a full, hearty meal.
