On a weekend lunch date with my partner (I call him Kkamang-ssi), we headed to Omil Hyehwa Daehangno to catch a play and eat some good Hyehwa pasta. Between the cute, whimsical interior and the gorgeous, better-than-expected food, we left completely satisfied. There was a wait since it was the weekend, but it was totally worth it — here's my review of Omil Daehangno, a Hyehwa pasta spot!

## Inside Omil: cozy decor and a 5-party weekend wait

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor of a building — just look for the sign with the adorable rubber duck omurice illustration!

At the entrance there's a wave-shaped door with a yellow border, and once inside there's a mirror in the same shape — so cute and full of character. Great for a mirror selfie! The posters scattered around are super adorable too :)

We visited on a weekend for lunch, and true to its reputation as a Hyehwa pasta hotspot, the place was packed and there were 5 teams waiting ahead of us. We left our number and killed time at a nearby gacha shop until they called us, then went straight in.

We ordered gochujang butter pasta (K-butter pasta) for ₩18,900, sizzling cheese katsu on a hot plate for ₩19,900, and pineapple ade for ₩6,900. That was our lineup!

Finally, our mains were beautifully set out across the whole table. True to a great Hyehwa pasta spot, even the plating was gorgeous, making it fun to photograph too :)

Pickles can be refilled at the self bar! They were refreshing and crunchy — really good.

### Gochujang butter pasta, 18,900 won

The dish I was most curious about — gochujang butter pasta. On top of the spicy K-butter sauce sat juicy sous-vide pork shoulder, a soft gochujang butter mousse, and a cute little flag.

They told us to mix the gochujang butter on top evenly into the pasta. Once I tried it, the spiciness hit that classic Korean sweet spot, deepened by the richness of the butter — the moment I took a bite, Kkamang-ssi and I locked eyes in amazement :)

The sauce was thick and delicious, and paired with the tender meat and chewy noodles, it was a perfect match. Who knew a Korean-style reinterpreted fusion pasta could work this well and taste this good! You have to try it :)

### Sizzling cheese katsu on a hot plate, 19,900 won

The name alone makes your mouth water — sizzling cheese katsu on a hot plate. The staff pours the cheese right at your table, a performance you rarely see elsewhere, which made it fun to watch too :)

The meat was juicy and tender, and the cheese was savory — we enjoyed it warm and delicious right to the last bite :)

## Pineapple ade, 6,900 won

The pineapple ade came in a flashy golden pineapple-shaped cup. An ade served in a pineapple cup! I love these thoughtful little details :)

Opening the pineapple lid revealed a cool, refreshing ade with ice floating in it. Sweet and tangy, it really perked up our appetite :)

## Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth the wait?

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno let us enjoy gorgeous-looking dishes in a cute, whimsical setting! The taste and balance of the gochujang butter pasta and cheese katsu were beyond satisfying enough to make the weekend lunch wait feel worthwhile. If you want great atmosphere and great pasta in Hyehwa, this is a solid spot for a date.
