## In short

Sugyeokok Bundang Migeum (수계옥 미금본점) is a dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot) restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Migeum Station in Bundang, Seongnam. Two friends shared chicken neck scorched rice porridge, dak hanmari and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and because staff set the heat and timer on the induction hidden in the table, they could focus on conversation. With free parking in the building, Sugyeokok Bundang Migeum is an easy dak hanmari stop near Migeum Station, even by car.

## Where is Sugyeokok Bundang Migeum, and is there parking?

Sugyeokok Bundang Migeum (수계옥 미금본점) is a dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot) specialist, a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Migeum Station on the Bundang Line. I went with a friend today. There's a saying that you eat dak hanmari on cold days and on hot days too, and the menu here is the kind of hot soup that warms you up any day of the year.

It's close to the subway, so it's easy to reach by public transport, and the building also offers free parking, which makes it very convenient by car too. In the Migeum Station area, where parking space is tight, free parking is a big plus.

## What are the seating and atmosphere like?

There are tables for two, tables for four, and a spacious group area for bigger parties. The interior is clean and warm without any fuss, and it's kept fresh and pleasant, which gives a good impression before you even eat.

That makes it a good fit for weekday office lunches and easy solo meals, as well as weekend family gatherings, dates and company dinners. The tables are spaced well, so talking with your group was no trouble. Takeout and delivery are also available, so you can enjoy a quality chicken dish at home too.

## What makes Sugyeokok's dak hanmari different?

The biggest difference is said to be the quality of the ingredients and the cooking process. Fresh domestic animal-welfare chickens, delivered every morning, are carefully prepared in the restaurant itself. The broth base is simmered for a full 8 hours or more with chicken feet and various vegetables, giving it a deep, clear flavor, or so they say.

Besides the signature dak hanmari, there are sides like a tangy, spicy chicken salad (dak-muchim) and potato pancake (gamja-jeon) that's crispy outside and moist inside. They say everything on the table is made with 100% domestic ingredients, so you get a filling meal that covers flavor, health and value.

## What did we order for two?

For this visit we ordered the combo suited to two people: chicken neck scorched rice porridge (nurungji-juk) + dak hanmari + kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). Once you sit down and order, the chicken neck scorched rice porridge comes out first as an appetizer.

The nutty scorched rice and tender chicken neck went together beautifully, and it was the perfect way to soothe an empty stomach before the main dish. It's mild and has more chew than ordinary porridge, which raised my expectations for the main course even more.

## The hidden induction in the table

The table looks like an ordinary wooden one, but the center where the pot sits is a hidden induction cooktop that doesn't show from outside. After we finished the porridge, the dak hanmari arrived in a wide pot and was set on this table.

With no protruding gas burner or heating coil, it looked very clean, and less heat spread outward, so we didn't get hot while eating and didn't have to worry about burns.

A staff member adjusted the induction heat for us and even set a timer for exactly the right time to cook the chicken. Thanks to this thoughtful, friendly system, we could chat comfortably and focus on the meal without worrying about the temperature the whole time it boiled.

## How do you make the dak hanmari sauce?

To really enjoy Sugyeokok's dak hanmari, the dedicated sauce matters most. The 8-hour broth and fresh chicken keep the flavor mild and clean rather than strong, so you may find it slightly bland, and the sauce makes up for that.

![Dak hanmari sauce ingredients set out on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/migeum-dakhanmari-hidden-induction-table/migeum-dakhanmari-hidden-induction-table-17-1s2s2-966.webp)

Following the guide on the table, we mixed our own sauce from soy sauce, vinegar, mustard and dadaegi (seasoned chili paste). Blended in the set ratio, it added a spicy, tangy kick to the tender chicken. Dipping the soft, well-cooked meat generously in the sauce filled my mouth with savory flavor, and I enjoyed it right to the last bite without getting tired of it.

## Kalguksu or egg porridge to finish?

This time we finished with kalguksu. After eating all the chicken and vegetables, we added noodles to the remaining rich broth and boiled it once more. The long-simmered vegetable stock mixed with chicken juices made the soup even more concentrated, and with the chewy noodles it was a very satisfying end to the meal.

After the basic dak hanmari, I strongly recommend adding a finisher like this kalguksu or the nutty egg porridge to round out the meal.

Between the deep aftertaste of the clean broth, 100% domestic ingredients, an induction system that cares even about what you can't see, and attentive service from the staff, overall I was very happy with this restaurant.
