Let me introduce Seorak Makguksu, which I visited on a nice sunny day.

This is Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch, a well-known dakgalbi spot in Yangju.

Seorak Makguksu is close to Yangju's Nari Park. Most people drive, but I got off the bus on the main road and it only took a few minutes to walk over. The clouds in the sky were so pretty that day.

On such a beautiful day, you've got to go eat something good, right?

If you want dakgalbi (grilled chicken) like the kind you'd get in Chuncheon but you're near Yangju, this place is a great alternative. Turns out it's a chain, but this branch happened to be the closest one to my house. The parking lot is huge too, so parking is easy.

## Inside the restaurant: free side dish refills at the self-bar

Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yangju Branch has seating split left and right around a central aisle, with a self-bar on the left where you can refill the basic side dishes as much as you want. First, I went in and grabbed a table.

Once you come in, there's a right side and a left side. The left side is the self-bar and serving area.

These are the basic side dishes they give you — if you want more, just use the self-bar. I went back several times for refills. They even have my favorite perilla leaves haha.

Past the center aisle, there's also seating on the right side. There's a restroom at the end of the hallway too.

## Kiosk ordering at Seorak Makguksu: menu and prices

There's also a menu board on the wall, so check it and then order at the kiosk. Makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and charcoal dakgalbi — you don't even have to go all the way to Gangwon-do, right? They said the rice, cabbage, and chili powder are all domestically sourced. Domestic ingredients really are the best these days... can't trust the stuff from China anymore haha.

That's a portion for two, right? Haha, it clearly doesn't look like three servings, does it?

The basic side dishes were raw garlic and sauce, kimchi, and spicy radish salad.

Ta-da~~~ Dakgalbi grilled over charcoal in the seasoning. It looked so delicious. Wait, is this dakgalbi really this tender? Having the staff grill it right there for us was great too (I tend to burn stuff myself). My mom usually doesn't eat much meat, but that day she really dug in. I think it's because the meat was so tender haha.

## Doenjang jjigae and icy water makguksu at Seorak Makguksu

We also got a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), which is a total bargain for the extra price — there's a kids' version too, but the price difference is minimal.

The water makguksu was ready too — floating slivers of ice, perfect for how hot it was that day. Cut it with scissors, mix it around a bit, and eat it with the dakgalbi — perfect combo, right? I used to only eat the mixed (bibim) version, but these days I eat the water version too haha. My taste seems to be shifting little by little.

Can you see how appetizing this looks? They laid it out nicely for easy eating. There's so much rice cake because we added an extra order of it haha. We ate a little too fast, honestly — might have looked pretty greedy...

Wait, I wasn't even hungry, and then suddenly I was starving — what magic is that? The two of us scarfed it down. Once everything was grilled and started to slightly burn, we asked for another pan and tilted it to the side to keep eating. Still, eating it warm is definitely tastier, right?
