Reviews for Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) near Seoul National University of Education Station were so good that I visited—and in the end, I was so satisfied! First of all, there are so many kinds of gimbap (seaweed rice rolls). I love dakgangjeong (sweet crispy chicken), and this place lets you have it with gimbap, so it feels extra filling haha. I do not come to this area often, but once I got here, I found plenty of restaurants but it was not easy to find somewhere suited to eating alone. Since it is around Gangnam, prices can feel a little burdensome too. It is not easy to get tasty food and great value all at once. Just hearing the name, it sounds perfect for people who work out—or those dieting like me, right? It is tteokbokki with lots of protein and no carbs, and it seems the owner even makes the sauce herself. Only the name has changed; it has operated here for a long time, so you can say the flavor is proven. You all know it is hard to stay in one spot for a long time if the food is not good~~~!! These days, one meal easily costs more than ₩10,000, but the gimbap here is big and generously filled, starting at ₩6,000, so I would call it a good-value restaurant. You can also have katsuobushi broth, so I recommend eating in rather than getting takeout! They say Halls Dakgangjeong uses domestic chilled chicken thigh meat. What surprised me even more than the looks was the flavor. The egg inside the gimbap was really soft and delicious. My portion was big, so I packed up the rest; when my boyfriend tried it at home, he said it was the best egg gimbap he had ever had. I really enjoyed it too. If it had been stuffed with too many ingredients, the flavors of each one might not have come through, but the double-cheese version has just a few ingredients, so I loved its clean flavor. Enjoying the gimbap and dakgangjeong with the katsuobushi broth available in the restaurant made for such a happy time!
