On weekends I always end up wondering where to take my kid. A trip somewhere far is nice, but sometimes a really good meal is what makes the day special. This time we visited Filling Donkatsu, known by word of mouth as a top donkatsu spot in Cheomdan, Gwangju, and it was even more satisfying than I expected.

After eating, we took a relaxing walk around the nearby Cheomdan district. So if you're planning a Gwangju travel itinerary, this could be a great lunch or dinner stop to add in. Getting a good meal and a nearby stroll together made planning the day easy.

The store has a clean, bright atmosphere that felt comfortable from the first impression. Table spacing was generous too, so it looked fine for visiting with a stroller or a kid.

We visited with our kid, and the staff were friendly, which made the meal comfortable. The whole place felt tidy, so it seemed like a good spot for family dining. There were also a lot of couples on dates, so the atmosphere was easy to enjoy without feeling out of place.

The first thing we tried, the 200-hour tenderloin katsu, felt tender the moment I bit into it. The outside was fried crisp while the inside stayed juicy, so it was a pleasant texture the whole way through. Thanks to its thickness, the meat's flavor came through well, and it was rich but not greasy.

### What the mushroom truffle cream pasta tastes like

The mushroom truffle cream pasta had a rich cream sauce with mushroom flavor naturally blended in. On top of that, a subtle truffle aroma added even more depth. The cream wasn't too heavy, so it was easy to alternate with the katsu, and the combination of the two dishes worked better together than I expected.
