## Inside Misikga Imokase: the room and the group table

The moment I stepped in, I felt how comfortable the atmosphere was. Not too flashy or loud, just pleasantly lively — it would work well for hangouts with friends, family dinners, or work dinners alike. There's also a group room, so visiting with a larger party didn't seem like a hassle at all.

## Where to eat in Sangmu, Gwangju with family or friends

If you're looking for a place for a family meal or a friends' gathering, I'd recommend Misikga Imokase in Sangmu-jigu. The variety of Korean dishes comes out like a course, so it's easy to please everyone's taste, and with so many dishes, satisfaction was high. The restaurant was clean and the group room made for a comfortable meal.

The biggest appeal of this place was being able to enjoy so many dishes like a course, not just one or two. Every time a dish came out, I found myself looking forward to what would come next. Thanks to that, even though the meal ran long, it was never boring.

The mukmuchim (seasoned jelly salad) exceeded my expectations too. The seasoning over fresh vegetables perked up my appetite, and eating the chewy jelly with the vegetables gave a nice range of textures. Overall, the food lineup was well-balanced and satisfying.

![Japchae loaded with vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangju-sangmu-imokase-travel-dinner/gwangju-sangmu-imokase-travel-dinner-06-8o4dx-900.webp)

The japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) was tastier than it looked. The springy noodles came with plenty of vegetables, so it had a nice chew, and the seasoning was just right. Eating it warm gave that homemade comfort feeling, and I kept reaching for more.

![Plainly boiled potatoes](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangju-sangmu-imokase-travel-dinner/gwangju-sangmu-imokase-travel-dinner-07-dffmy-900.webp)

The plainly boiled potatoes worked as a palate cleanser between dishes, and the golden-fried jeon (savory pancake) balanced crispy edges with a moist center. Good to pair alongside the other dishes throughout the meal.

## A Sangmu dinner spot that works for a group gathering

If you're looking for a dinner gathering spot in Sangmu-jigu, Misikga Imokase is a solid choice. Dishes like samhap bossam (pork wrap with fermented skate and kimchi), yukjeon (beef pancake), makhoe (mixed raw fish), and jjukkumi (octopus) came out in sequence, making for good conversation over the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and it accommodated groups well, making it satisfying for dinners or gatherings.

The dish I reached for first was the yukhoe (seasoned raw beef). It had a fresh, lively texture, and eating it with cucumber added a crisp bite that made it even better. The seasoning wasn't overpowering, so it was easy to enjoy, and it worked great as a drinking snack too.

Every time a new dish came out I thought, 'surely that's the last one,' but it kept going and I was genuinely surprised. It wasn't just about quantity — each dish had its own character, which made eating it all the more fun. What stood out most was being able to taste so much Jeolla-do food in one place, and as a traveler, I thought it was a great low-pressure way to experience the region's flavors.

The spicy jjukkumi (octopus) in particular was one of the most memorable dishes on the Imokase menu. The spicy seasoning soaked well into the octopus, and the chewy texture only got better the more I chewed. It wasn't just spicy — there was a savory depth too, which kept me reaching for more. Alternating it with the other dishes kept the spiciness from feeling overwhelming, and it made a great drinking snack as well.

## Is Misikga Imokase good for a work dinner with a large group?

If you're weighing up a spot for a work dinner, I'd recommend Misikga Imokase. The spacious layout and group room made it easy for a larger party to visit comfortably, and the variety of food kept everyone satisfied. Since it's not just one dish but many, it was easy to suit different tastes among coworkers.

The meal wrapped up with fruit. Several kinds of fresh fruit were laid out, and just looking at it felt refreshing. The sweet fruit cleaned up the palate nicely. It was a great dessert to enjoy after such a hearty meal of varied dishes, and it made for a satisfying end to the visit.
