This time I visited Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch. Pho is a menu I crave every once in a while — it's light but still gives you meat, noodles, and warm broth all together. Mibundang in particular is known as a place where you eat in a quiet atmosphere, so I end up going there when I'm dining alone or want a calm meal with company.

This time I ordered the tendon brisket pho along with shrimp potato rolls and sweet potato jjajo as sides! I'll walk through the exterior, interior mood, menu lineup, and taste in photo order.

The wood-heavy interior caught my eye right away, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit. With wood used throughout, it had that warm, cozy feeling you'd expect from a pho restaurant. They even had a water dispenser set up outside for customers waiting in line!

Unlike a lot of typical restaurants, Mibundang has a concept of eating quietly rather than talking loudly, so as not to disturb neighboring tables! I thought it was especially good for eating alone without feeling self-conscious. The layout faces the open kitchen, so you can see some of the food being prepared, and each table had its own sauces so you could adjust the pho's flavor to your taste.

The menu is broadly split into pho and side dishes. For pho, you could choose from different meat combinations — brisket-point pho, brisket, brisket + brisket-point, tendon brisket-brisket-point, or plain tendon pho. Side dishes also had plenty of options: sweet potato jjajo, scallop jjajo, shrimp potato rolls, wedding siomai, buffalo wings, an assorted fried platter, and more. Ordering is simple via the kiosk.

## Brisket, flank and tendon pho: how does adding cilantro change it?

Here's the tendon brisket pho. In a wide bowl, noodles and bean sprouts sit at the bottom with brisket-point beef, brisket, and tendon piled on top — it looked hearty. I tried the broth first, and rather than the pho's characteristic aroma being overwhelming, the deep flavor coming from the meat felt more central!

At first I ate the pho as it came, then added cilantro (coriander) halfway through. Adding it definitely brought a fragrant aroma and made the dish feel a bit more exotic. If you like cilantro, adding it midway is worth trying.

### Tendon: how chewy is it?

The tendon was what I was most curious about. It had a texture clearly different from regular meat — instead of the soft chewiness of meat, it had a chewy, springy feel that was really satisfying on the first bite! If you like that particular chewy tendon texture, I'd recommend this three-meat combination over pho with just brisket-point or brisket alone. Seriously so good... totally recommend this as a pho spot near Dongtan Station!!!

### Chadolbagi (thin-sliced beef brisket)

The brisket-point beef is characterized by its thin, tender texture. Eaten with the noodles, it chewed softly, and I could taste its distinct savory flavor. As the fat from the brisket-point mixed slightly into the broth, the overall flavor felt a bit richer!

### Yangji (lean beef flank)

The brisket was milder than the brisket-point, and you could feel the grain of the meat itself. Sliced thin, it wasn't tough at all, and eaten with the broth, the meat flavor and broth flavor blended naturally.

## Two sides: shrimp potato rolls and sweet potato jjajo

### Shrimp potato rolls (3,500 won)

I also tried the shrimp potato rolls I ordered as a side. It's shrimp wrapped in potato and fried, so the outside is crispy while the inside keeps the shrimp's springy texture 🦐 The potato part was fried thin and crispy, so the savory flavor hit first when biting in, and the shrimp inside was springy, giving two different textures together.

### Sweet potato jjajo, or fried spring rolls (3,000 won)

Sweet potato jjajo is a totally different kind of side from the shrimp potato rolls. The outside is fried crispy, and the sweet potato filling inside kept the flavor soft and sweet from start to finish 🍠 The sweet potato's mild natural sweetness paired quite well with the pho's salty, mild flavor. The crispy outside and fluffy, soft inside made for a fun contrast in texture too. Really delicious... totally recommend this pho spot near Dongtan Station!!!

A nice touch — there's a mask hook, hair ties, and 3 kinds of sauce set up on the wall to use whenever you want. The sauces are hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and hot sauce.

## Is Mibundang Dongtan Station good for a solo meal?

This time I tried the tendon brisket pho along with the side dishes at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch. Overall, what stuck with me most was being able to eat in a quiet atmosphere. These days there are plenty of restaurants where people chat loudly while eating, but Mibundang has the opposite vibe — focused, calm dining — which felt especially comfortable for a solo visit.

I liked that the tendon brisket pho let me taste the brisket-point's savoriness, the brisket's mild flavor, and the tendon's chewy texture all in one bowl! It was also fun to start with the plain broth and then add cilantro partway through to change up the flavor. If you're looking for a quiet solo dining spot near Dongtan Station, or craving warm pho on a chilly day, this kind of atmosphere might be just the thing — that was my takeaway from Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch.
