I visited a fusion Japanese restaurant that wins your eyes first and your mouth twice over — Choi Dining Yangju Okjeong, known for its cute, trendy vibe.

This was a place I'd had my eye on whenever I craved clean, distinctive Japanese food. This time I properly tried the signature big salmon futomaki (a Japanese-style giant seaweed roll) and the crisp-outside-juicy-inside tonkatsu. Here's my honest review of the great visuals and the generous receipt review event perks.

## Finding Choi Dining on the 2nd floor of Bujaro Tower, Okjeong

Choi Dining Okjeong sits on the 2nd floor of Bujaro Tower. From the entrance, the cute illustrated characters and the bright yellow-and-wood interior caught my eye right away.

![Table seating at Choi Dining Yangju Okjeong](https://img.superchart.com/images/choi-dining-okjeong-salmon-futomaki-bone-katsu/choi-dining-okjeong-salmon-futomaki-bone-katsu-08-4d7vi-900.webp)

Inside, the space was really clean and pleasantly arranged. It's a cozy yet stylish atmosphere, great for casual brunch with friends, a date spot, or lunch for office workers in the Okjeong commercial district. The tables, from 2-seaters to 4-seaters, had generous spacing, making it really nice for a quiet, comfortable meal.

## Is the 10-piece salmon futomaki worth 26,000 won?

To fully enjoy Choi Dining's signature salmon futomaki without any regrets, I went big and ordered a full plate of 10 pieces (₩26,000).

The moment the plate landed on the table, I gasped at its overwhelming size. Thick slices of aged raw salmon, crispy fried shrimp, sweet and fluffy Japanese-style rolled egg, cucumber, burdock root, pickled radish — the filling was packed to bursting.

I heard you need to eat futomaki in one big bite to really taste all the ingredients together, so I took a huge bite. The soft, rich salmon, the crunchy texture of the fried shrimp, and the crisp vegetables all came together in an explosion of savory flavor. Dipped generously in the special mayo sauce with a little wasabi on top, it stays refreshing without any greasiness the whole way through.

## Choi bone-in tonkatsu: tonkatsu on the rib bone

Along with the futomaki, I also ordered Choi Dining's signature katsu — the Choi bone-in tonkatsu! The moment it hit the table, I gasped at the whole rib bone still attached, looking exactly like meat from a cartoon.

![Choi bone-in tonkatsu with rib bone attached](https://img.superchart.com/images/choi-dining-okjeong-salmon-futomaki-bone-katsu/choi-dining-okjeong-salmon-futomaki-bone-katsu-11-zdro0-900.webp)

The bone-in loin cut, with a large rib bone attached, was fried up crispy, giving it a presence completely different from ordinary tonkatsu. Slicing into it with a knife, the crispy coating cut with a satisfying crunch, and juicy, glossy meat juices seeped from the cross-section.

One bite delivered the nutty crispiness of the coating along with the chewy, springy texture of the thick loin. Not dry at all — the more I chewed, the deeper the meaty aroma got, and the generously poured house-made tonkatsu sauce boosted the savoriness even more. Picking off the chewy meat clinging to the bone was its own kind of fun — a perfectly complete dish.

## How the Naver receipt review event gets you a free hamburg steak

During the meal, I took part in the Naver receipt review event and got a full hamburg steak as a bonus! Usually when you think of a review event perk, you picture something light like a drink, but Choi Dining sent out a whole handmade hamburg steak that was just as good as the regular menu — I was genuinely touched. The soft patty, juicy all through, came topped with a generous helping of rich demi-glace sauce, and it cut smoothly with just a light press of the knife.

The meat melted in my mouth, and the pairing with the rich sauce was a work of art — eating it between bites of the bone-in tonkatsu and futomaki made the whole table feel that much richer.

## Final verdict and tips for visiting Choi Dining

Neat, stylish presentation, fresh ingredients, and the generous portion of the bone-in tonkatsu — this is a standout restaurant in the Okjeong commercial district that fully satisfied me.

- Menu recommendation: the salmon futomaki (10pc), packed with fresh raw salmon, paired with the Choi bone-in tonkatsu — great looks and great texture — is a combination that never fails.
- Pro tip: make sure to take part in the Naver receipt review event when you visit so you don't miss out on the soft hamburg steak perk. On weekends there's no break time, so it's easy to drop by anytime.

A meal that pleased both my eyes and my mouth completely — I'd give it a 100% return visit rating! If you're looking for a distinctive, well-presented Japanese meal in Okjeong-dong, definitely stop by Choi Dining Yangju Okjeong 🤍
