Open kitchen

Eoneu Dal says it uses ingredients delivered directly every day and simmers its sauces in-house. Its signature is not skimping on the key ingredient in each dish, so everything tastes rich. They also serve dishes made with seasonal ingredients, so first-timers and regulars alike can look forward to something new.

Stepping inside, the spacious, bright atmosphere welcomed us warmly and we could eat comfortably.

Eoneu Dal on a Sunday lunch: should you reserve?

We heard Sunday lunchtime is the busiest, so we booked a 12:00 table through Catch Table. It opens at 11:30, and the place was already nearly full.

Group room and baby chairs

A reservation came into the group room right after, so I barely managed to snap a photo just before..

There's no printed menu. You scan the QR code stuck on the table and the menu appears right away. I couldn't screenshot the menu screen when I opened it, so I just grabbed a few shots from Naver.

What we ordered

At Eoneu Dal we ordered the cheese pilaf, vongole (clam pasta) and shrimp salad. Prices were ₩19,000 for the cheese pilaf, ₩20,000 for the vongole and ₩21,000 for the shrimp salad, ₩60,000 for all three. When you leave after the meal, you take the bill to the counter and pay there.

Lemon water, homemade pickles and refillable salt bread

I liked all of the service at Eoneu Dal, but I especially loved the water bottle. The fresh lemon water looked lovely too. The homemade pickles were tasty, and what really touched me was that staff came over to refill them before they ran out during the meal.

The bread in this basket is the mini salt bread (소금빵) served before the meal. It came out warm, and eaten right away it was really good. Refills are possible, so we asked for more once.

How do the shrimp salad, cheese pilaf and vongole taste?

The Eoneu Dal shrimp salad came with fresh greens, shrimp, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and fruit, and the colors alone looked appetizing. It was refreshing between the pasta and the pilaf, and with so many ingredients it was plenty for two to share.

The cheese pilaf blends nutty cheese with rice and goes well with pasta.

The shrimp salad and cheese pilaf came out first, and the pasta arrived a little later.

Eoneu Dal vongole pasta generously topped with clams

The vongole was generously topped with clams, and the oil sauce, fragrant with clam and garlic, soaked well into the noodles. A little lemon squeezed on top added a clean finish.

All three dishes came with plenty of ingredients, so it was a hearty meal.

Cheese pilaf baked like nurungji

The Eoneu Dal cheese pilaf has cheese inside the rice, so I think kids would love it. The top is lightly scorched like nurungji (crispy scorched rice), which gave it an even nuttier, crunchier taste.

How many dishes should a couple order?

Honestly, the salad and pilaf alone would probably have been enough for the two of us at Eoneu Dal. But I assumed portions would be small like at a typical restaurant, so we ordered three dishes with the vongole pasta too, and we left absolutely stuffed.

The vongole pasta had lots of clams too. My husband, a huge clam lover, was cracking them open and said it reminded him of the stir-fried clams he had on a trip to China, and he happily wiped up the sauce at the bottom.

Free corkage and who Eoneu Dal suits

Eoneu Dal offers free corkage, and they say they keep alcohol margins low, so wine and beer that pair with the food come at gentler prices. It's a nice place for brunch in the sunshine by day, or pasta with wine in the evening. Day and night have different charms, so it suits dates and anniversary meals, and it looks comfortable for group gatherings or family meals with a baby.
