# Suwon Korean BBQ restaurant with private rooms: Yeongpo Hwa-ro

## Parking, access, and the waiting area

Even though I went on a Monday, there were lots of groups gathering and families dining.

It is open daily from 11:00 to 23:00, with parking, group seating, private rooms, birthday benefits, Wi-Fi, paid corkage, high chairs, a waiting area, and Zero Pay available. The entrance and seating are wheelchair accessible, and there is a restroom inside.

It is a 3-minute walk from Exit 10 of Suwon City Hall Station, and free parking is available right in front. There is plenty of parking, so it is great if you are driving, and it is close to the subway station too—accessibility is top-notch. It is also near Gyeonggi Arts Center and New Core Outlet, so it works nicely for dinner after a cultural outing~ If there is a wait, you can use the indoor waiting area.

## An upscale Korean BBQ restaurant with private rooms

Each table has a partition or high-backed chairs, so you can dine comfortably without worrying about the people beside you. There are as many as five private rooms, and when I peeked inside, each had two grills on the table and a wonderfully spacious layout!

Chandeliers, a whisky display, and gold-colored grills were among the details that made the restaurant feel upscale. A long row of celebrity signatures went on and on; with the atmosphere being this good, I could see why so many celebrities have visited.

There is even a restroom inside and a refrigerator just for alcohol! Drinks are stored separately at -4°C, so they went down nice and easy.

Along with 1++ grade hanwoo, there is premium Korean pork, and takeaway is available too, making it great for gifts. The meat quality is so excellent... I think you would get praised a hundred times if you gave it as a gift.

From 11:00 to 16:00, they serve lunch dishes such as galbitang (beef short-rib soup), naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), and yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef mixed rice), and the side dishes are substantial too.

They say that, except for one item, all ingredients are domestic and they use only top-grade raw meat. Not just the meat but also the rice, doenjang stew, and naengmyeon are Korean, so I could eat with confidence. We ordered assorted hanwoo at ₩49,000 for 150 g and soju at ₩6,000.

The basic banchan (Korean side dishes) included salt, wasabi, ssamjang (savory dipping paste), garlic, pickles, kimchi, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), and shredded scallions. The salt crystals were coarse, and the scallions came with bean sprouts and soybean powder, which suited the beef even better. I thought it was interesting that a Korean BBQ restaurant served pickles, but their tanginess cut through the richness so well. I also loved that they served barley tea instead of bottled water!

Our two-serving, 300 g assorted beef platter arrived~ The assortment we had included sirloin, flat iron steak, salchisal, skirt steak, upjinsal, and jebi churri. Now it was time to admire each cut one by one. Can you see that beautifully distributed marbling? Before we had even eaten, Hyeon and I said at the same time, “Ah, this is good meat.”

We had originally ordered doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean-paste broth), but they kindly explained that it comes complimentary with a meat order and told us to try it first, then order more if needed. I thought a tiny earthenware bowl would come out, but this was basically a whole side dish on the house ㅠㅠ The doenjang sulbap was packed with tofu, zucchini, onion, and more, and it was not salty, so we enjoyed it.

## From flat iron steak to salchisal: the tasting order

They told us to start with the flat iron steak and sirloin, then move on to the thinner cuts, so we began with the flat iron steak. After putting it on, they grilled the sirloin alongside it too. The flat iron steak is on the left and the sirloin is on the right; even though the sirloin was thick, it disappeared the moment it hit my mouth;; The flat iron steak had a pleasantly chewy texture and its own charm, so alternating between the two was really delicious haha.

For the first bite, I had it with coarse salt, and that pairing brought out the beef’s naturally nutty flavor best of all, so it was my absolute favorite. The shredded-scallion and myeongi namul blanket could not be left out either~? The sharp scallion flavor balanced the richness, and the premium myeongi namul side dish elevated the quality another notch. The sulbap was so delicious to have between bites of meat! I kept topping it with that intensely salted-seafood-flavored kimchi.

The precious jebi churri, which comes in only the tiniest quantity... Your palate remembers expensive food exactly, and this cut made its case as truly amazing. It had quite an intense beefy flavor, making it a dream combination with shredded scallions or grilled vegetables.

After having skirt steak and rich upjinsal, I could not choose a favorite cut... The charcoal fire was not too strong, so the meat did not burn easily and we could enjoy every single bite.

We finished with salchisal, and even though we were clearly full, the meat was so good that I was sad to see the end in sight. Salchisal had the approachable tenderness and flavor that everyone would love, as expected. If you visit Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch (영포화로 인계점), I really hope you try the assorted hanwoo set with its range of cuts! There was not a single disappointing cut.

## Complimentary red-bean shaved ice and final thoughts

Then they suddenly gave us complimentary patbingsu (red-bean shaved ice) too...😭 I was already grateful for the sulbap, but they properly took care of dessert as well with this topping-loaded patbingsu. There were red beans, cornflakes, soybean powder, and even fruit cocktail underneath. It was good enough to sell as a menu item.

At the counter, they had mouthwash, toothpicks, candy, and hair ties, so from arrival (and parking) to departure, I thought this place was incredibly thoughtful. It is clean and upscale, making it great when you need something formal or for a work dinner. The kind staff, sulbap, and shaved-ice service were all wonderful too.
