## Why Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu in Pyeongtaek works with a child

We went to Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu for a weekend lunch with my husband and son. There were lots of families around, so it felt comfortable to bring a kid, and the staff greeted us so warmly right when we walked in — a great first impression. They even walked us through how to enjoy the kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and exactly how long to boil it, so it wasn't intimidating even as first-timers. ❤️

We ordered the 2-person set. It comes with one serving of Goryeo Mulchong kalguksu, napa cabbage dumplings, and perilla-leaf medicinal boiled pork, and the portions were generous enough for three of us to share. (2-person set — ₩38,000)

To boil the kalguksu, you just watch the hourglass on the table and wait — and my son kept asking "is it done yet?" while watching the sand fall, which was so cute. The waiting itself became part of the fun.

The broth was packed with clam meat and tasted really clean and refreshing. It wasn't spicy or heavy at all, so my son happily ate both the noodles and the broth, and the clams' savory depth kept us going back for spoonful after spoonful.

## How is the perilla-leaf boiled pork?

The perilla-leaf medicinal boiled pork had no gamey smell at all and was really tender. It was tasty on its own, but dipping it lightly in the salted seafood condiment served alongside added a savory saltiness that made it even better — it cut through the richness so the pork just kept disappearing.

## Napa cabbage dumplings with a full, tasty filling

The napa cabbage dumplings were also very satisfying. They were packed full of filling, and the sweetness of the napa cabbage blended nicely with the savory meat. The juicy filling made them a perfect pairing with the kalguksu.

## Free kids' rice bowl and four-season fried rice

![Four-season fried rice made with the leftover broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-kalguksu-kids-free-rice/pyeongtaek-kalguksu-kids-free-rice-24-1f9ls-900.webp)

One of the reasons this place was great to visit with a kid was that the kids' rice bowl was free. My son ate a whole bowl of it along with the pork, and to finish the meal, the four-season fried rice was also free — we fried it up in the leftover broth for a filling finish. The staff told us to finish the broth first, add the fried rice ingredients, then stir in a ladle of the kalguksu broth for the best flavor, so I followed exactly that 😆 I like a more mild seasoning, and it wasn't overpowering at all — really delicious 🩵

Between the food and the staff's friendly guidance, it was a genuinely pleasant meal, so if you're looking for a good kalguksu restaurant to visit with kids in Pyeongtaek, I'd recommend Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu! 💛

## Would three people order the 38,000 won set again?

## Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu visit notes

These days I look for places where I can eat comfortably with a kid, not just places with good food, and Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu really delivered on that front.

The staff were kind to my son and carefully explained how to eat everything and how long to boil the noodles, so even as first-time visitors we could eat without any worry. The portions were generous, and with the free kids' rice bowl and free four-season fried rice, the value was excellent too. From the refreshing kalguksu broth to the tender boiled pork to the fully packed dumplings, there wasn't a single weak dish, and the whole family left happy. I think this will stick in my memory as a Pyeongtaek family dining spot my parents would enjoy too, next time. 🙂💛❤️
