52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch is a seafood kalguksu restaurant overlooking the sea in Oido, Siheung, Gyeonggi. After watching mudflat creatures with the children, we enjoyed seafood noodle soup with crab-prep service and extra noodles and sujebi. A hearty seaside meal for an Oido outing.

Last weekend, after visiting Siheung Eco Center with the kids, we stopped by 52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch, a very popular kalguksu spot in Oido these days! I went because I suddenly remembered the seafood kalguksu I had on a Jeju trip last year, and from the entrance, with its dolhareubang stone guardian and calm black-basalt stone-wall interior, it felt like finding a little piece of Jeju in Oido :)

## Even the Wait Is Fun by the Oido Sea

The Oido Sea stretches out right in front of the restaurant, so visiting on a beautiful day brought back so many memories of Jeju. We arrived around 2 p.m., just after the weekend lunch rush, but as expected of a famous Oido restaurant, it was still packed.

After putting our names down for the waitlist, we headed straight down to the shore with the kids. We could spot cute crabs, mudskippers, and even seagulls on the mudflat, so the wait was not boring at all. Our eldest loves observing nature and was so excitedly watching the mudflat that I was really glad we came! We could not go onto the mudflat itself, but from the railing we could clearly see the little creatures moving around, which was so fascinating.

## A Spacious, Calm Interior Enjoyed from a Window Seat

When our turn came, we found a spacious, pleasant dining area spread across two floors. It was so full of diners that I could only take interior photos when we were leaving after our meal.

With its clean, soft lighting and artwork, it felt less like a bustling ordinary seafood-soup restaurant and more like a mood-filled gallery. Luckily, we were shown to a window seat, where the sea, blue sky, and fluffy white clouds filled our view. Just waiting for the food felt healing.

## A Menu Ranging from Seafood to Whole Chicken

Unlike many other kalguksu places, 52 Degree Kalguksu in Siheung Oido has a broad menu: not only seafood kalguksu, but also clams, shellfish, and whole chicken. There are plenty of side dishes too, so it is fun choosing what to eat.

If seafood is not really your thing but you still want to dine with that wonderful sea view, I would recommend the whole chicken too :) We ordered their signature seafood whole-pot kalguksu for two, plus extra kalguksu noodles and sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) that the kids love.

## How Did We Eat the Seafood Whole-Pot Kalguksu?

The pot arrived loaded with fresh seafood, which they say is sourced directly from Noryangjin Fish Market after business closes each day, along with fresh vegetables from Namchon Agricultural Wholesale Market in Incheon. It caught my eye from the very first look. The broth, which they say is simmered fresh every dawn without using commercial concentrates, was wonderfully deep, rich, and refreshing.

The especially friendly service impressed me. The staff explained the menu and how to enjoy it in detail, and they even prepared the blue crab, which is usually such a hassle to deal with, so we could simply relax and eat. Everything was fresh and the broth had such depth that the whole family enjoyed it, and the kids happily ate until they were full too.

After eating a good amount of seafood, we added the kalguksu noodles and sujebi to finish with a truly filling meal, which made us even more satisfied with this restaurant.

As you would expect from a kalguksu specialist, they also served a small tasting portion of boribap (barley rice), and the kimchi had just the right savory depth!

52 Degree Kalguksu, a wonderful Oido kalguksu restaurant with great food, atmosphere, and kindness all in one! If you are planning a weekend outing or drive around Siheung or Oido, I recommend visiting with people you love and enjoying a generous feast from the sea.
