## In short

Yuok is an Osaka-style eel rice bowl restaurant on Songjeong-gangbyeon-ro in Haeundae, Busan. After checking in at the Busan workcation center nearby, the writer had Yuok's signature jumbo unaju eel set (28,500 won) for lunch and ate it three ways: plain first, then with wasabi and chopped green onion, and finally with ochazuke (green tea poured over rice). Thick, tender eel with sweet tamago, plus chargers and deodorizer on hand, made Yuok an easy place to eat lunch alone.

## How to eat the jumbo unaju eel set three ways

I ordered Yuok's signature dish, the jumbo unaju set! There were even instructions on how to eat it — first plain with nothing added, then a second round with wasabi and green onion on top.

As you go, you scoop rice and eel onto your side plate, add whatever toppings you like and pour on the ochazuke, then finish the rest however you prefer haha. You can also ask for more of the tare sauce if you want!

They'll give you kimchi if you ask, too — eel can get a little heavy after a while, so I asked for it right from the start, haha.

## Jumbo unaju eel set, 28,500 won: how thick is the eel?

![Full spread of the jumbo unaju set](https://img.superchart.com/images/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju-12-111r4-1200.webp)

And here comes the jumbo unaju set! The whole spread was beautifully arranged, and above all, the size of the eel was seriously overwhelming lol.

![Close-up of thick, glossy eel](https://img.superchart.com/images/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju-14-mq4hz-900.webp)

The big chunks of eel came topped with tamago too, and it was all so glossy it looked amazing! You scoop it onto your side plate and cut it into bite-size pieces with the wooden spatula they give you. Oh, and the fried tofu that came alongside was also really good haha.

![A bowl of eel rice with ochazuke poured over it](https://img.superchart.com/images/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju-16-1gzjo-900.webp)

Eel and tamago with green onion and wasabi on top — one bite and it just melts in your mouth, I swear. And the eel flesh is seriously thick!! Thick but not chewy at all, so tender, so good.

Rice and eel alone are already delicious, but the tamago on the side is sweet, so eating it together with the eel and rice made the combo amazing haha. Then I scooped rice and eel onto my side plate and poured ochazuke over it — and honestly, that turned out to be more my style!! Eating it with the broth made the umami absolutely insane.

## Chargers and deodorizer: small comforts for a solo lunch

![Chargers set out for customers in the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju-17-ecjls-900.webp)

![Deodorizer station free for anyone to use](https://img.superchart.com/images/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju/yuok-songjeong-workation-solo-unaju-18-1i0fn-900.webp)

On one side of the restaurant there were chargers and deodorizer set out for anyone to use freely. The staff were also really kind, so I had a great meal from start to finish, haha.

## Is Yuok worth it for an eel bowl in Songjeong, Busan?

Yuok in Songjeong, Busan let me properly enjoy Osaka-style eel rice bowl! The eel was completely plump and tender, and personally, I especially loved the combo with the sweet tamago haha.

The staff were kind, and depending on how you eat it, you can enjoy the eel bowl differently — from plain to ochazuke — so next time I want to try the other rice bowl menus too! If you're looking for a Songjeong, Busan restaurant, or a Japanese restaurant near Songjeong Beach for eel rice bowls, I recommend Yuok!
