Even the drive to Witch's Arpeggio felt like a proper trip. You follow a road lined with lush green trees up into the mountains and a creek appears 😯 Mom and I were already in vacation mode and happy at this point .. ❤️ Namyangju is only about 30 minutes from Seoul, but the moment we arrived the atmosphere was so lovely it felt like we'd traveled far away 🌿 The sound of the creek and the birdsong was so healing ♡♡ The interior was colorful, pretty and clean too, but this is a place where you absolutely have to grab a seat on the outdoor terrace. Because the vibe of grilling samgyeopsal (pork belly) right next to the creek while listening to the water is honestly insane.. 🤍 I'd heard that in peak season there's a wait and it gets super crowded, but since it was a weekday and the weather had cooled down, we got to enjoy it at a relaxed pace, which was great! (I don't like crowds haha) ## How does the cheese tomato-jang pork belly taste? The signature here is the tomato-jang pork belly (pork belly in tomato marinade), which is unusual from the name alone! At first, tomato and pork belly together felt a little unfamiliar to me 🙄 But seeing the line about 25 years of research made me trust it right away. One corner of the restaurant is stacked with fresh tomatoes in earthenware jars, which was fun to look at too 🥫🍅 Without even thinking about it, we ordered two servings of the main menu, the cheese tomato-jang pork belly. You can order easily on the tablet! And finally, the main event! Thick pork belly piled high with tomato marinade, and the look of it was insane.. The umami of the tomato blends with the nutty richness of the cheese, and it turned out to be a crowd-pleasing flavor that any Korean would like, no love-it-or-hate-it about it. Just like the name, the outside is incredibly crunchy like a cracker, so even though I was full I kept reaching for more 🥔 The potato pancake is 25,000 won! Mom and I polished off the pork belly and the potato pancake and were too full to eat any more.. but be sure to order the myeongnan (pollack roe) nurungji (scorched rice) cauldron fried rice too! Dogs are welcome, so next time I'd like to bring my pup along.
