## Where is Madam Hao in Suwon?

Madam Hao is a Vietnamese home-style restaurant on Worldcup-ro 193beon-gil in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, near Ajou University. Here's what the exterior looks like first.

If you're looking for a proper meal near Ajou University, I'd recommend reading this to the end. It's back-to-school season, so the student cafeteria lines are way too long, and eating the same thing every time gets boring, right? That's the mindset I went in with when I found Madam Hao, and it ended up being a place I went back to — so today I'll give you an honest review.

## Inside Madam Hao: seating and table spacing

Inside, Madam Hao mixes wooden tables with green-toned decor, and the lighting is set not too bright. The table spacing was decent too, so I could eat without worrying about the next table.

With wooden tables and green-toned props scattered around, the place quietly carries a Vietnamese feel, and the lighting was set not too bright, making it comfortable to sit in. The table spacing was decent too, so I could eat without worrying about the neighboring table — that was a nice plus.

## Madam Hao menu and prices

Madam Hao's menu includes noodle soups, stir-fried noodles, rice bowls, and fried dishes, with pad Thai and Vietnamese-style chicken rice bowl each priced at 12,000 won. At this price point, with generous portions too, it definitely passed the value test.

Looking at the menu, it's stocked with everything from noodle soups to stir-fried noodles, rice bowls, and fried dishes that would go well as drinking snacks too. Pad Thai was 12,000 won and the Vietnamese-style chicken rice bowl was also 12,000 won, and with generous portions at this price, it definitely earned a passing grade on value. Personally, I felt it was a price I could handle without stress for lunch, and it would feel even more so from a student's perspective.

## Side dishes at Madam Hao and how to use the lemon

Madam Hao's standard side dishes are kimchi, pickled radish, and chili and lemon to add to the noodles. Squeezing in the lemon changes the flavor balance, so it's worth doing.

The standard side dishes that came out were kimchi, pickled radish, and chili and lemon for the noodles. Squeezing in the lemon in particular neutralizes the acidity and completely shifts the flavor balance — if you eat it without knowing this, the aroma can feel quite strong.

You can really tell the portion size from the photo — both bowls were piled to the edge of the plate, and my first thought was that at this price, this amount would be plenty for a lunch. Honestly, just seeing the visual before eating raised my expectations, and once I actually ate it, the taste didn't fall short of that.

## How did the pad Thai taste?

Madam Hao's pad Thai at 12,000 won had a sweet-and-sour sauce evenly soaked into the noodles, with the sourness not overdone, so it was the kind of dish you could keep eating without getting tired of it.

From the first bite, the sweet-and-sour sauce evenly coating the noodles made a great impression. Pad Thai-style sauces usually use a tamarind base for sourness, but here the sourness wasn't overdone and was well balanced with the sweetness, making it a style you could keep eating without getting tired of it.

I ordered it with a mild sweet-and-salty combination, which made it easy to eat without any pressure. The portion was generous too, so one bowl was enough to fill me up, and at this price point, I thought this composition was a solid choice for a lunch menu.

## Why the Vietnamese chicken rice bowl is best mixed into the rice

Madam Hao's Vietnamese-style chicken rice bowl at 12,000 won had a fairly rich sauce, and the dish really showed its worth when mixed with the rice. The chicken was cooked cleanly without any gamey smell, letting the sauce's savory flavor shine.

With a rich-style sauce, this dish showed its true value when mixed with the rice. The chicken itself was cooked cleanly with no gamey smell, playing the role of letting the sauce's savory depth come through as-is.

The sauce seemed to have a garlic and fish sauce base, and because of that combination, savoriness came through before saltiness. So mixed with the rice, it wasn't overpowering and kept me reaching for more. The vegetables served alongside also helped balance the sauce's richness, so I could eat it to the end without feeling heavy.

My impression was that the chicken rice bowl's appeal lies in the savoriness that comes out when the rich sauce is mixed with rice.

I'd especially recommend this place to Ajou University students heading into the new semester. The value is good, the portions are filling, and the overall quality of the food is solid, so it works as both a student meal spot and a casual hangout spot. I already have a definite intention to come back, and next time I'm thinking of trying the stir-fried noodle dishes.

## Is Madam Hao worth it? Overall verdict

- Great value for the price
- Recommended for back-to-school season
- Flavors that aren't overpowering
- Good as a drinking snack spot too
- Definitely planning to return
- Strongly recommended for student meals
