## In short

Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch is a Japanese ramen restaurant in Gwangjin, Seoul, near Children's Grand Park Station. We shared motsu ramen with tender beef offal and sliced beef belly, sweet-savory gyudon, and watermelon soda for a filling meal. Verdict: a comfortable choice for solo meals or a casual date lunch.

I visited Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch (멘츠루 어린이대공원점), a ramen favorite near Konkuk University, Sejong University, and Children's Grand Park! It has several branches, and I already loved it, so when I spotted this one while hanging out in Seongsu and Konkuk University, I went straight in! The atmosphere is lovely too, so I think it is a great spot for a date lunch around Konkuk University!

## A comfortable restaurant for solo diners, pairs, and groups of four

It is near Konkuk University, Sejong University, and Children's Grand Park, so it feels like such a great location if you are passing through the area! What I especially liked about Mentsuru was its spacious dining room and the thoughtful seating for all kinds of guests. There are spaces for solo diners as well as two- and four-person tables, and with so many tables, people could get seated quickly even when it was busy! I especially loved this solo-dining area. Maybe it is the kind of layout that gives introverts a sense of security?!?

The staff and owner were soooo kind too!!! And they were incredibly cool...! I ended up asking for a few things unintentionally, but they carefully checked whether I needed anything else. The restaurant was super busy, yet they were so kind—I was touched.

## Ramen and gyudon that are easy to share

This is a place where you can enjoy not only ramen but also gyudon (Japanese beef rice bowl) and side dishes, making it great for two people to share a few things! We had motsu ramen and gyudon that day, but there are lots of other delicious menu items too!

- Motsu ramen (beef offal ramen) ₩15,000
- Abura soba (sauceless mixed ramen) ₩12,000
- Gyudon ₩11,000
- Horumon-don (beef large-intestine rice bowl) ₩15,000

These are my recommendations after visiting several times! My absolute favorites are the motsu ramen and abura soba!!

It is close to Exit 4 of Children's Grand Park Station, so it was easy to reach by public transit too! It is only about a two- to three-minute walk. It is right by the station, so it is also a reasonable distance for a meal after hanging out near Konkuk University or Sejong University!

When I went inside, there was a long bar table, creating such a nice atmosphere even if you come alone for a bowl of ramen. There are table seats too, so it is good for visiting with friends or a partner. It has the clean feel of a Japanese ramen restaurant, making it seem nice for a quick meal. I also heard that in the evening, the atmosphere is relaxed enough to enjoy not only ramen but also draft beer!

## Ordering motsu ramen, gyudon, and watermelon soda

That day, we ordered motsu ramen + gyudon + watermelon soda! I wondered whether to get a basic ramen, but the motsu ramen with beef offal caught my eye, so I ordered it right away! If you love beef offal, it is hard to just pass up a menu item like this, right? 🤭 I normally love beef offal and have tried it in lots of places, but Mentsuru—you are realllly good at beef offal.

## Motsu ramen loaded with beef offal and sliced beef belly

![Motsu ramen topped with beef offal and sliced beef belly](https://img.superchart.com/images/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru-07-1q1ze-900.webp)

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was the motsu ramen! It is also one of this restaurant's signature dishes. As the name suggests, it is ramen with beef offal, and it came generously topped with both offal and sliced beef belly, so it looked seriously filling at first glance! Adding offal to regular ramen made the visuals feel distinctly different too!

I tasted the broth first. It had a moderate kick without being greasy at all, and the savory flavor of the offal and the ramen broth worked together better than I expected.

![Beef offal and noodles in motsu ramen](https://img.superchart.com/images/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru-09-1c9gk-900.webp)

The distinctive savory, rich flavor of beef offal made it feel a little heartier and more substantial than ramen alone. I think anyone who loves offal would be very satisfied with this menu! Personally, I have often found the offal in dishes like this not very tender, but here... it was bouncy and so soft~~ So delicious!!!! Can you see it...

I loved that it included both offal and sliced beef belly, so I could pick different bites depending on my mood. One bite of noodles with offal! Another with sliced beef belly! Topping them in different ways and eating them with the broth really brought out that savory flavor. The thin noodles went well with the broth too, and as I slurped away, I finished the bowl in no time. I think motsu ramen is a good choice when you want a hearty bowl of ramen.

## Sweet-savory gyudon mixed with egg yolk

![Gyudon topped with egg yolk](https://img.superchart.com/images/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru-10-1hiv5-900.webp)

And we ordered gyudon too because we were craving a rice bowl! Mentsuru's gyudon is a rice-bowl dish with meat and rice in a sweet-savory sauce. It is a good item to order when ramen alone feels a little lacking and you want a rice dish alongside it. I love all the choices at Mentsuru 👍

Pop the egg yolk on top and give the meat and rice a quick mix—done!

![Gyudon with plenty of meat and rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru-12-d2d79-900.webp)

With the egg yolk, the sauce became a little smoother and added a richer taste when eaten with the meat and rice. There was plenty of meat over the rice, making every spoonful deeply satisfying 🤤

The gyudon was especially good to order with ramen and share between two people! A bite of gyudon while eating ramen, then another bite of ramen while eating gyudon! Alternating them made for a better combination than I expected. I would recommend it to anyone who wants both ramen and rice.

## Watermelon soda, great for sipping between bites

And the drink we ordered that day was watermelon soda 🍉 It is a special soda that creates a little bit of a Japan-like mood! It is such a good pairing when you crave a cold drink between bites of boldly seasoned dishes like ramen or gyudon~~ The watermelon soda was just right with the spicy and sweet-savory main dishes. Its slightly sweet, cool watermelon character with carbonation made each sip during the meal go ahhh~~

![Watermelon soda ordered with the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru/childrens-grand-park-motsuramen-mentsuru-13-1c62a-900.webp)

It has a bit of a vibe, right?!? It was a nice drink to order with the food, especially if you visit in summer 🍉🥤

Overall, the rich and savory motsu ramen + sweet-savory gyudon rice + cool watermelon soda made for quite a filling meal! We had enough food, so we did not ask, but from what they explained, it seemed that you can add rice to the ramen or something similar! If you want to share two dishes rather than eat ramen alone, I also recommend ordering gyudon with it!

## Abura soba from another day and the restaurant atmosphere

If you are looking for a ramen restaurant near Children's Grand Park, Sejong University, or Konkuk University, this is worth stopping by at least once! It especially has distinctive dishes, such as motsu ramen and abura soba, that are not commonly sold nearby. I am also sharing the abura soba I had on another visit to Mentsuru 🥰

How does it look? Delicious, right?!? Oh, and this is a popular restaurant that celebrities have visited too, so there were signatures like these—they were stylish and pretty.

A signature from Moon Sang-hoon... that made it feel trustworthy, haha. The atmosphere is comfortable enough for solo dining, so it is good when you want a hearty bowl of ramen alone; it is also great for visiting with friends or a partner and sharing ramen and gyudon. If you are looking for a delicious ramen restaurant near Children's Grand Park, keep Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch in mind :) It is a ramen favorite with a strong Japanese feel, perfect for both solo meals and dates near Konkuk University!
