Two of us had the Dinner B Course at Usu (우수) near Gongdeok Station. It was a Korean set-course meal in a private room, progressing from small bites to grilled Korean beef and dessert. I remember the calm atmosphere and the neatly presented dishes.

## How do you get to Usu from Gongdeok Station?

Exit Gongdeok Station on Line 5 through Exit 2, and you will see Lotte Castle President. Usu is on B2 of this building's shopping complex and was listed as a one-minute walk from the station exit.

After passing the ATM on the left and going down the stairs, I found Usu. It was right in front of the shopping-complex entrance, so it was easy to locate. Separate men's and women's restrooms in the complex were also conveniently around the corner.

## Are the private rooms suitable for family gatherings?

The rooms are farther inside, past the reception at the entrance. The space has a calm gray palette, and every table is in a private room, so I could eat without worrying about other diners. The standard four- or six-person rooms also felt spacious.

I was told there is also a room that can accommodate up to 40 people with its partitions opened. I did not personally hold a formal family meeting there, but I thought it would suit occasions where conversation matters, such as a parent's birthday or a meeting between families. The atmosphere would also work well for an anniversary date or a business meal.

## What did the course cost and include?

The menu consisted entirely of courses. Lunch started from ₩39,000, and we ordered the Dinner B Course for two.

I could choose the amount of Korean beef included in each course. I chose 90g for the B Course.

## How were the opening dishes in the Dinner B Course?

Before the course began, the staff first showed us a presentation box containing the 1++ Korean beef and ingredients to be used that day. It gave us a chance to look over the ingredients before eating.

The first dish was warm beef-and-chicken porridge. The richness of Korean-beef bone stock and chicken broth was joined by the aroma of shiitake mushrooms, making it taste deep. Three small bites followed.

The bulgogi sandwich released a truffle aroma as soon as I took a bite. The scallop-and-lily dish paired grilled scallop with a smooth lily-bulb cream, while the sweet shrimp gim bugak (fried seaweed crisp) added texture with fried abalone-innard rice. Eating them in the order suggested let me notice the differences in aroma and texture.

The next dish was a roll of tofu and aged kimchi wrapped in thin zucchini, served with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms. It came with tofu sauce and chamnamul oil.

The aged kimchi did not stand out too strongly; the ingredients felt balanced, so I ate it with all the sauce. The tofu sauce would normally contain peanuts, but because I mentioned my allergy in advance, it was served without peanuts that day.

## How were the yukhoe, fish, and tteokgalbi?

The yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) dish was rice topped with fried nurungji (scorched rice) and yukhoe, wrapped in gamtae (seaweed). The yukhoe felt generously portioned—almost as much as the rice—and I liked its soft texture.

The warm tilefish dish that followed was eaten with vegetable rice and neungi mushroom broth. Its flesh was thick and light rather than oily. Even my companion, who usually does not like soggy-textured foods, enjoyed it.

The 1++ Korean-beef tteokgalbi (grilled minced-beef patty) came with white balsamic sauce.

Because it was a meat dish, the tteokgalbi could feel a little rich. The accompanying tomato marinade and basil oil added a fragrant note.

The abalone five-color gardenia noodles were memorable for their refreshing flavor. They contained plenty of abalone, and the aromas of bracken, shiitake, and perilla leaf combined with mustard-garlic sauce for a clean finish.

## Is the meal filling from grilled Korean beef through dessert?

The main course was grilled Korean beef with a bansang (traditional Korean meal tray). The cut for grilling was 1++ Korean-beef sirloin.

Grilling asparagus and button mushrooms alongside it, then having rice and Korean-beef miyeokguk (seaweed soup), made for a filling meal. I enjoyed the sound and aroma as it cooked on the brazier, and the beef felt tender in my mouth.

Even though I was already quite full, sweet-corn ice cream and sponge cake arrived for dessert.

I ate the refreshing sherbet with the rich corn cream cheese beneath the cake. Jasmine tea finished the meal.

## How did I communicate my allergy when reserving?

I noted the food I was allergic to while making the reservation, and they contacted me before my visit. In my case, they prepared the dishes without peanuts and explained the changes again when serving them. If you have an allergy, it is a good idea to mention it when reserving and check which ingredients can be adjusted.

## What are the parking, reservation, and hours details?

The hours listed at the time of my visit were daily 11:00–22:00, with a break from 15:00–17:00. It was listed as open year-round, and reservations could be made through Naver Reservation and Catchtable. Parking was free for three hours with no limit on vehicles, and corkage was also listed as free.

## What made it suitable for an important meal?

I do not eat overly sweet or salty food well, and this course was easy for me to enjoy because no single flavor stood out too strongly. I found it hard to pick just one dish because several were satisfying, and my companion said they would like to eat every item again.

The gray- and green-toned presentation, neat ceramicware, and cups also suited the calm space. I felt that being able to enjoy a course while talking in a separate room would be an advantage when choosing a place for a meeting between families or a parent's birthday meal.
