Today I'm bringing you a review of a bossam and kalguksu spot that's perfect for after work or on weekends near Dangsan Station: Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch.

## Cheongun Bossam Dangsan Branch hours and parking

- Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Mon 11:00 – 22:00 (break 15:00 – 16:00)
- Sat 11:00 – 22:00

There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving, you'll want to scope out nearby parking first. There are a few private lots right in front, and a public street lot about an 8-minute walk away. We went to the public lot and there was exactly one spot open, haha.

There are a lot of office workers around Dangsan Station and plenty of good restaurants clustered together, so picking a dinner spot is always a struggle. If you're craving clean, tender meat paired with a spicy-tangy noodle dish, Cheongun Bossam is hands down the safe choice!

Spicy kalguksu, stir-fried octopus, gabri bossam — plenty of dishes here that go well with a beer or soju, haha.

They also have octopus and bossam set lunches, so great value at lunchtime too!!

The interior is fairly spacious, so I saw a lot of group visits.

For basic side dishes we got bean sprouts, dangwi (angelica) salad, pickled onion, salted shrimp, and ssamjang.

### The genius move: free 'mak guksu'

Among the free side options you can choose when ordering the bossam set, we picked the mak guksu. 'Free' doesn't mean small or careless here — it came out looking generous and full.

Fresh, crunchy vegetables and a spicy-tangy special sauce coat the noodles well, cutting right through any richness that bossam can leave behind.

They gave us gloves, which made mixing it up nice and easy.

With mustard sauce mixed in, it has a sharp kick along with that spicy-tangy-sweet flavor — excellent.

I really recommend trying the mak guksu. It's a best-in-my-life mak guksu, haha.

### Still tender and juicy: the 'Bossam Set (Small)'

The soul of bossam is meat boiled moist with no gamey smell, paired with appetizing kimchi. Cheongun's meat has a perfect ratio of lean to fat, giving it a soft, never-dry texture that's excellent.

And this baek-kimchi (white napa kimchi)? It's mild but really pairs well with the bossam meat. It tasted way better than regular cabbage kimchi!

Honestly, I don't like fat, but here I ate it plain with zero hesitation.

The mumallaengi (dried radish salad) that comes alongside has a sweet, spicy, savory kick — put a piece on top of the baek-kimchi and meat with a bit of salted shrimp, wrap it up, and you get a really clean, full flavor.

I discovered a whole new appeal in oergyeop bossam! It felt clean and refined somehow, haha.

Wrap it in lettuce, dip it in salted shrimp, and definitely wrap some with the mak guksu too. Even at the small size, the portion was plenty satisfying for two.

### Nutty and filling: the 'rice ball (₩3,000)'

You can't skip carbs, so we added this ₩3,000 dose of happiness — the rice ball. It's packed generously with savory seaweed flakes, pickled radish, and sesame oil, and it's fun rolling it up round by hand.

Sweet, salty and nutty, the rice ball pairs well with the spicy mak guksu sauce, and it's also great topped with a bit of the bossam kimchi.
