## In short

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a Hanwoo beef gopchang (beef intestines) restaurant in the Bangi food alley in Songpa, Seoul, about a 600m walk from Jamsil Station Exit 10. Three 220g orders of Hanwoo gopchang at 19,000 won each came with kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap (diced radish kimchi and pickled garlic fried rice) at 9,000 won, the wait was about 5 minutes, and the staff set a timer to grill the gopchang and lay kimchi on the pan alongside it. Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is great value and clean-tasting enough for anyone put off by the smell of offal.

This time I went back to Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, a place I go REALLY often! I've already introduced it on my blog a few times. This wasn't my first visit either — I keep bouncing between the main branch and the Bangi branch haha. The value and the whole spread here are just overwhelming, and even though I'm pretty sensitive to gopchang (beef intestines) smell, this place has none of that funk, just nutty deliciousness — I always eat so well here.

## Where is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, and when is it open?

> Address: 19 Olympic-ro 32-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 1st floor
> Hours: Mon–Thu 16:00–23:00, last order 22:00 / Fri 16:00–24:00, last order 23:00 / Sat 13:00–24:00, last order 23:00 / Sun 15:00–24:00, last order 23:00

The opening time varies a bit by day, so if you're going on a weekend, it's worth checking the hours first!

It's 603m from Jamsil Station Exit 10. It's located in the Bangi food alley. Since it's walking distance from Jamsil Station, it's also a good option for dinner after hanging out in Jamsil.

## The storefront in the Bangi food alley and a 5-minute wait

The storefront was wide open, giving it a great first impression. There were waiting seats outside, and with the white sign it looked clean and neat. The vibe looked so good that waiting outside actually got me more excited.

You write your name on the waiting list with a highlighter. There's no need to write your phone number or anything — you just write your name and wait out front. We waited about 5 minutes, I think. The whole Bangi food alley was crowded, but I felt like the table turnover here was surprisingly fast.

You can see the waiting seats out front, right? Those two seats are ours haha.

It's already a famous restaurant that's been on several TV shows...! I haven't known about it that long, but I've been here so many times (the cycle is short). It's almost sad that I found out about it so late, ugh.

## Inside Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang and the side dishes on the table

![Interior of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch with tightly packed tables](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-02-1gcqs-m-900.webp)

The inside wasn't huge, but the tables were packed in tight. It seems like this place is always full of customers. Truly a popular restaurant haha.

![Basic table setting with mijeolma sauce and chive salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-04-tkdvd-900.webp)

First up, the minari-pickled garlic sauce (mijeolma) and the chive salad. These two are the number-one pairing with gopchang.

We got seated right next to the kitchen, and it was fun watching them busily boiling the egg custard next door, so I kept peeking over haha.

![Sign for the takeout scallion kimchi and side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-05-1fm9t-867.webp)

![A plate of spicy minari-pickled garlic sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-06-19c32-856.webp)

The scallion kimchi is 700g for ₩20,000 and sold as takeout, but tasting it here made it feel like really great value. And the minari-pickled garlic sauce, mijeolma!!!! It's spicy and so delicious, and it's the perfect match dipped with gopchang, you know? They said to eat as much as we want and offered more.

A little note that showed the chef's care. Printing out little things like this one by one felt like a really thoughtful touch.

## What we ordered: three 220g Hanwoo gopchang plus kkakdugi garlic fried rice

- Beef gopchang 220g — ₩19,000 × 3 servings
- Kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap — ₩9,000

We ordered 3 servings of beef gopchang and 1 serving of kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap. Each serving of beef gopchang is 220g, which is a larger portion than other places. And the price is actually cheaper. Plus there's something you can eat alongside your meal (it comes already made).

![Plate of three types of house-made kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-07-1b24e-900.webp)

See the house-made kimchi? This is the seriously delicious 3-type kimchi I'd previously seen them making in a batch. Most places these days just buy their kimchi, so tasting house-made kimchi here was on a whole different level — it made me think this restaurant's secret is really something.

## 220g Hanwoo beef gopchang, with kimchi grilled right on the pan

The three servings of gopchang came out perfectly set up. It wasn't just gopchang — there was all sorts of stuff packed in, and the portion was huge. Above all, the gopchang had an amazing sheen and there were four really long strips, so it definitely felt generous.

Gopchang can't go without soju, right? Let me show you the soju~ Totally cold, classic soju vibes.

![Beef gopchang and kimchi on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-08-ow9jf-900.webp)

The really great thing about this place is that they put the kimchi on the grill together with the meat. I really love grilled kimchi like that? I've mostly seen it with samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), but seeing kimchi grilled together at a gopchang restaurant like this for the first time was so appealing.

![Kimchi turning golden as it cooks in gopchang fat](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-09-1pujz-900.webp)

After a while, a bit of the gopchang fat soaks in and the kimchi gets even more golden and cooked — a totally different feeling from eating it raw, and eating it with the gopchang, I felt like I could keep eating forever.

The second friend to cut through the richness of the gopchang (after the grilled kimchi) — chives!

![Seasoned, tangy chive salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-10-1cqog-900.webp)

The chives were seasoned, so they were clean and tangy and delicious.

![Rice cake, potato, and cabbage grilling together on the pan](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-11-1v2rj-900.webp)

Grilled rice cake, potato, and cabbage too~ Seemed like it would really help with digestion. It has such a variety of appeal, which I really loved...! It came out in a generous amount too, right?

## Free steamed egg custard at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, refills included

The egg custard (gyeranjjim) is complimentary. From the moment it arrived, I had my spoon ready and waiting for it..... Even though it's a free menu item, it was fluffy, generous, and super soft.

![Complimentary egg custard served in an earthenware pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-12-6jbh5-900.webp)

The seasoning wasn't bland at all — it was lightly salty and well-seasoned, exactly the flavor of egg custard I love... I picked up the earthenware pot and scraped it clean, and a staff member asked if I wanted more, and I was like, hahahaha (awkwardly said, oh...no thanks, I'm okay).

They gave everything a good stir.

![Grill with beef gopchang cooked by the staff](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-13-1wz74-900.webp)

So you can enjoy it without lifting a finger, the staff come by with a timer set and flip, cut, and do everything for you. Even when our gopchang was overflowing with gop (the fatty intestine lining), and I touched it a little, they said they'd do it all themselves. The service is amazing, ugh. How could I just sit there when the gop is spilling over like that? Hahahaha. Seriously so nutty and delicious.

## Kkakdugi and pickled garlic fried rice, 9,000 won and the highlight of the meal

![A bowl of kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-14-efam0-900.webp)

And now the one I really want to emphasize in this post — both a main and a side menu! Its official name is kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap (diced radish kimchi and pickled garlic fried rice). I used to just call it 'kkakdugi yangbap,' but seeing the full name, it explains from the ingredients exactly why I love it haha.

![Close-up of yangbap mixed with kkakdugi and teukyang](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-15-xhinz-900.webp)

![Yangbap topped with sesame seeds, chives, and gim](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-16-qivas-900.webp)

![Pickled garlic ingredients mixed into the yangbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-17-1p5ae-900.webp)

As you can roughly see, it's got kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), teukyang (premium beef tripe), and pickled garlic among others, and looking closer there were even more ingredients packed in. Sesame seeds, chives, and gim (seaweed) all combined together, giving a nutty flavor and perfect seasoning.

![A spoonful of kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-18-mrml2-900.webp)

First off, the kkakdugi was crunchy, so even just eating the rice on its own never felt boring texture-wise. On top of that, there was a lot of teukyang mixed in, giving that chewy bite in between that I really liked too. And by the way, it's also delicious eaten together with the gopchang next to it.

![Table setting with beef gopchang and yangbap together](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-19-1waxo-1200.webp)

![Gopchang on the grill next to a bowl of yangbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-20-bbenc-900.webp)

![Full spread of the gopchang table](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-21-fqv5d-900.webp)

Once the kkakdugi yangbap arrived alongside everything else, I really wanted to capture all these delicious things in one shot, so I tried hard, but the angle just wasn't working, so the photos didn't come out great, ugh.

![Half-eaten egg custard and gopchang](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-22-m5koj-900.webp)

You can see next to it that we dug into the egg custard hard, right? It basically disappeared the moment it arrived.

![Beef gopchang dipped in mijeolma sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-23-1itv3-900.webp)

This is the gopchang I kept dipping heavily into the mijeolma sauce. It's already free of any funky smell and nutty and delicious on its own, but paired with this sauce it feels doubled.

![Beef gopchang grilled until crispy on the outside](https://img.superchart.com/images/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi/jinseong-hanwoo-gopchang-bangi-grilled-kimchi-24-1rzl4-900.webp)

I left it on the grill a bit longer so the outside got nice and crispy, but without breaking apart like a cracker — I loved this texture too, and ate it happily like scorched rice (nurungji).

## Is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch worth a second visit?

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang has great quality gopchang and a solid basic spread, so no matter how many times I come, I'm always satisfied haha. Especially the combo of gop-filled beef gopchang with the kkakdugi jeorim-maneul yangbap — every time I come, I want to eat it again! Highly recommend 🐮🔥
